You can export Access tables in .xls format, directly from Access.

I'm guessing you are having difficulty opening it... because you do not have Microsoft Access on your PC.
Take the mdb to a PC with Microsoft Access, open it and use the export to Excel option.
Otherwise, get your hands on a recent version of Microsoft Access for your PC.

Yes. It is right in Access itself. Under the File menu is an Export option that allows you to export tables out of Access and into other formats, including Excel. Use it regularly.
Also on the File menu is a Get External Data option which allows you to bring Excel, and other files, into Access. So if you where to export to Excel and then edit the material, you can return it into Access when done.

You should be able to export this in Access. Go to Access and go to the file menu and look for the export command or a save as and select the xls file format. or You could try going to excel and trying to import the file.

You will need to install Access on your new machine before it will recognize the file. This will work, but NOT ALL software from XP works on Vista.
