Because people do not think.
The ignorance in many of the questions an answers form non-military folks is appalling.
Especially all of those idiots who think that their political opinions qualify them to decide what I think or what my motivations are.
Of course playing the game of spotting the fake veterans is mildly amusing.

Are you even paying attention to what you're saying?
Your question is why do people who have never served in the military think they are qualified to answer questions, but you yourself have never been in the military, yet you think you can answer! Just because you know people in the Military doesn't make you any more qualified to answer a question about Active Duty information. I'm a Navy wife and my husband has served for twenty years, but if there is a question on here about something to do with the Military that I can't answer from having NO EXPERIENCE in the Service, then I'll ask him, or research the information myself. Now, if a Military member or their spouse ask a question regarding Military Housing, Travel, Bennifits...ETC...I'm qualified to answer those without having to go to someone in the Armed Forces, because I deal with all of that.
There is a difference between opinion and fact, and certainly every person on here, regardless of rather or not you, me or anyone else agrees with them, are allowed to speak their mind and give their opinion!
Your listing of people you know in the Military isn't real impressive. Your dad's fifth cousin? I don't even know anyone in my family beyond my third cousins! As far as you having a sister that served in the Army ( Both my dad and brother did, as well as both my brother-in-laws and father-in-law ) and knowing people in Iraq ( I know well over 12 ) STILL doesn't qualify YOU to give out first hand knowledge of something you have never dealt with. My point of giving you a list of all those I know in the Military, was simply to show you that again, even with all these service members that are in my life, I personally have never served, so I can't answer and claim to know the truth about certain
events.
And by the way, if I were you, I would be a bit embarrassed about admitting that my boyfriend was doing nothing but sitting on his butt over in Iraq. You must be very proud!

Freedom of speech, which your friends and relatives are fighting for, is the answer. However, I understand where you are coming from. Freedom of speech allows the dopes that have no idea what they are talking about (some on this thread are obvious) to "try" to answer your questions, but it doesn't demand that anyone pay attention to them. That's the approach I take...just hit the "ignore" button.

Because many of us still deal with what the military does day in and day out. I have said it once and I will say it again my husband in a Marine and I have to deal with the same things he does just on a different level.

I especially like the answerers who get all their opinions handed to them straight from CNN. The only thing worse than them is the "conspiracy theory documentaries" crowd who post a link and say "did you know that bush was flying in the plane that dropped a bomb on the pentagon before it headed out to sea to start hurricane katrina???"
LOL

Depends on the question. Sometimes, I can find the correct answer by doing a search on Google. Oddly enough, it would be easier and faster for someone to do a Google search than ask their question here.

People in the military don't know all the answers. In fact their opinion means nothing to the powers that be. They are told what to do.

Im an Army Brat - 46 years now.
If you have any respect for what your family has done, "shut the **** up" is insulting to the Freedom of Speech they've protected.
You're right to be angry but keep, in your head, why we do, what we do.
