It really isn't worth the risk but if you are going to go ahead look out for dented cans as they are likely to be spoiled on the inside and if when you make the first hole with the tin opener there is a hissing sound, DO NOT EAT. this usually means that there is bacteria inside

Think lawsuit. Most expiration dates are set way to early so the company can have a legal basis to defend themselves against a lawsuit.
If a can of soup says do not use after aug/06 you can rest assured it is still good for months after that.
I did an experiment by dipping can goods in melted wax. I did this in the year 2000. I still have these cans of food and every time I open one and eat it there isn;t any problem. The trick is that the wax hertimetically seals the can and nothing gets in to spoil the food.
Most canned food is good for a year or two providing you store it in a cool dry room.
Just my opinion.

It actually depends on how often you take "outdated store boughten outdated cangoods kept at a reasonable temperature".

Average human beings would normally have serious stomach problems worsening to food poisoning. But, some people might have gotten use to food in that condition with immunity formed in their body system to counter them bad food.

For example, you might puke and purge very badly after eating food on sale along the streets of Thailand. But, the locals are perfectly normal after eating them.

I would not.
Outdated can goods and dented cans should never be eaten because of the anaerobic activities of possible bacteria growth.
