The Roosevelt on Madison & 45th, Close to everything and fairly priced. About GBP 70.00 per night

However, Do not order a smoking room as they tend to be smaller than the non smoking. Also the best place for breakfast there is the deli on the corner of opposite by the subway entrance. do not et in the hotel as it is $25.00 each for breakfast.

Depends on your standards Really.

Cheap and close to everything...I am thinking for Free you could grab a cardboard box and sleep in the streets - or bring a tent and camp out in Central Park. Either may bring some law enforcement attention, but hey it's part of the flavor of travel.

The Roosevelt on 45th and Madison is within walking distance of lots of the sights. Cost us about £80 per night per room on Airmiles website. Rooms are not as large as usual American hotel rooms, but that is the norm in New York.

I stayed at the Americana Inn in April. It's on 6th Ave at about 38th Street I think. Really cheap - about £60 per night for a twin. Walking distance to Empire State, Macy's, Times Square. Excellent!
I wrote a veview about it on Trip Advisor which you should read. We had a mouse in our room!

So far the best answer is the 30/30 Hotel. Reasonable, close enough to most things, nice rooms, good staff.

We have booked the Holiday Inn Express in 5th Avenue for August. It costs 220 dollars for a room. I don't think that's too bad in central New York. It includes continental breakfast.
