Be careful. You should have to "medicate" yourself before facing the world. There's other issues for you to work on to feel confident in yourself. You don't want drinking to turn into a coping mechanism. Take care of yourself.

I drink because I love wine. I enjoy having a glass of it with a nice meal out or in. I usually have it once a week. When I was in my early twenties, I used to drink to tolerate some of my dates. :) (I'm 28 now). I used to drink a lot back then - but now I'm married and happy and don't need it!

I know how you feel, I do that too!
Sometimes, when I'm meeting a client in the afternoon (never in the morning) and I'm nervous, I have a couple of beers - I never get drunk, but just a couple help ease my nerves. I did the same when I used to do amateur theatre productions, it used to help me with my stage-fright.
I think it's pretty common, I believe some people call it "Dutch courage". I know a lot of people, including my bf, who do the same thing.

Nope I don't. I smoke marijuana to ease anxiety. It's cheaper.

Well I pray that your not the one driving..there are better ways to relax if you have severe anxiety there is meds that are safer then drinking..however it depends on how often you drink..And yes I have before..but remember it can deppress you too..Which can further the anxiety.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Providing I'm not driving, then I usually do have a beer or something before going somewhere stressful.

try some martini rosso on the rocks with some lime . . . the martini is sweet so the alcohol is absorbed into the blood immediately, . . it's also not a particularly expensive drink and just one glass should do the trick . . give it a try
