i'm playing the devil advocate here, i would generally choose pakistan since i'm a muslim. But for the sake of argument, if this war breakout India will win it.
What pakistan will do in this kind of scenario is kind employ infantry blizt with tank support driving straight to the capital. While the northern states of india would ones to fall first due to some support of the local populace. It will a hard war trying to keep the pakistan army from breaking through the northern border. As reinforcement from the southern state will be late to reinforce the border. From there this will turn badly for pakistan, India will playing the war of attrition , think it like eastern front campaign of the german army in world war 2. Air superiority need to be achieved by the pakistan or else they be stuck on the indian side without supplies and air support.
This will be hard to achieve due to more powerfull indian airforce, pakistan army must drive through the heartland of indian to evade the range of indian aircraft carrier.
Even if they managed to reach the capital, they will experience resistance from the local populace and unless they could maintain air superiority all the way there is no way pakistan could supply their troop.
In the end if will come to indian driving back the demoralised pakistan troop back.
This however is an simple analysis of what if two country fight. The current geopolitical status is somewhat complex, and should it happen it will not be one on one fight. China, america, bangladesh all have card to play in this conflict. I could even see islamic terrorist will be playing their influence.

Wars are not a solutions for anything, and moreover every such things are due to some corrupt politicians (who I never could know) why they do it, coz money is not such important that they blow up all the peoples of any country just for money.
But if we see the defence conditions of both of countries, India seems much ahead of pakistan, though both countries have developed nuclear weapons, but in this nuclear war also, India has upper hand as he can control his nuclear weapon's blast. As he test fired in 1999.
But with a defence budget of 1.7 billion Rs. as compared to India's 8.3 Billion Rs. Pakistan look much behind to India.
If war will be there, which should not be there, India have 100% to win it.

There better be no war among them, because there will be no winner in it.
They have nuclear weapons, but not any contingencies for a real nuking of some of their cities.
There would be a mass sloughter, and a bigger one afterward from radiation and polution.
And in clasical warfighting, neither of them has supermacy of equipement , training , an terain to have a decisive victory.
They also have a massive armys,whit not enoug terrain for strategic movements that woul give one side or the other any good start.
Try to read few last books of Ender, Orson Scot Card, there you have a fiction of war between Pakistan , India and China.
A good book.

Definetly India. They have a largwe military and a whole
bunch of artillery. Off course Pakistan could use nukes
but India now has a missile defense system. And even if both
countries used all they have India still has more missiles tanks artillery etc then Pakistan. It would be a tough fight but ultimetly Pakistan would be pulberized.

If its nuclear, than neither one, but if its straight conventional, which it probably would be, than I think India would have the upper hand simply because they have the huge superiority in numbers over Pakistan population wise. They have more soldiers to send into the meat grinder. Of course that depends on the willingness of the Indian people to sacrifice their lives. If they were resilient and unbending, than India gets the edge.

why would you want to know who wins? War must nto ahppen in the first place at all cause!
Hmm, maybe every country should make a law which say that war loving citizens should send thier entire family out to war and when they need more people to die, the goverment should devote thier body to the bullets and bombs!

The WORLD would WIN...how?? Well, if it were nuclear it would solve the population boom and lower the HUGE population explosion in both countries. Yahoo would win because the number of indians and pakistani sex pests would be gone and it would make chatting enjoyable again. Think about it??

The US, because they are the one who sold weapons to them. No weapons, no war, just boxing and fencing, I think.
