The religious right does not push bible ideas. It pushes specific pieces of bible ideas to suit their purposes.
You are correct that there is a certain very visible portion of the christian community who's interest is to use their religious beliefs to support hatred and bigotry. It has been going on from the beginning of time.
I don't believe, however, this visible group actually represents the majority of christianity. I believe that the majority of christians are attempting to better themselves through their faith and strive to be as "christ-like" as they can be. I believe most christians experience the same revulsion most people experience when they hear the extreme rhetoric of some of the most visible people who are masters at division, judgment, and condemnation.
I do note one very interesting thing, though. Most people want the followers of Islam to denounce the works of the militant and destructive members of their religion.
I don't see the same demand from christians who follow christ's teachings to denounce those who spew hatred and division. They tend to look the other way... or say, "what does that junk have to do with me?" I wonder if the "real" muslims feel that way about the nutty ones?

You know we are not yet in a perfect world. I guess that's because humans were not created perfect. We all have to work very hard to change ourselves. Problem is everyone is desperate to change the world - but not themselves.
Maybe the next life will be in a perfect place where we will all love everyone including homosexuals. Then again heaven may just be an asexual place. Sex will not be needed since reproduction will not be needed. In heaven the population growth will come from humans as they die on earth !
I believe all humans are selfish to some degree. Even Mother Teresa was selfish. She was desperate to save her own soul in the next life. We all need to work towards being selfless souls. Do Good - Expect nothing, not even salvation as the philosopher J. Krishnamurthy advised.

Oh, if only there's someone who will help me financially, I can execute at least a part of the noble mission of Mother Teresa. The less fortunate ones do really need medical assistance. Not only that, they need food, shelter and even education as well as their means of livelihood.

Anyone who claims to hate and profess Christianity is wrong. Period. Homosexuality is also mentioned in the New Testament, but again, we are not to hate the people, but the lifestyle. I have gay friends, atheist friends, agnostic friends, etc. and I'm a Christian. I'm with you. We all need to be more caring and loving toward each other.

I completely agree with you.
Christianity has become commercial, that's what happened.
