Are you directing this question to guys and asking about THEIR boyfriends? If not, focus on his body language, his eye contact and tone of voice when you ask him where he was on those mysterious nights when he's "busy". They can indicate whether or not he's lying to you. Or if you two are the kind of couple that talk openly to one another, ask him straight out if there's someone else. Say that you are concerned about the status of your relationship and ask him if something is wrong. Maybe there is another reason why he's been acting aloof.

ask him, if he says no, then believe him and chat about your relationship and tell him your concerned, and if he blows up in your face you know somethings up. and if he says he is cheating, grab the closest blunt object and make him wish he had never been born. a cheating man is best left bleeding to death. good luck
