If you look hard enough, you can find other colors. I absolutely HATE pastel colors, so I really needed to find something else for my kids, lol. I basically hit every store around here and found what I was looking for. It really sucks, when you have a little boy, and he's wearing blue, but it's one of those "girly"blues, and everyone calls him her/she. After that happened, I wouldn't buy ANY pastel crap. Everything is either white, bright blue, red, even orange.

purple-heart.com does really funky bright colours and tie-dye baby clothes. Even in black! Very unusual. I think 1 reason for pastel baby clothes is that babies generally have fair skin and hair (yes I know not all but generally) and bold colours would make them look washed out.

there are lots of brightly coloured clothes for babies, if you know where to look. no added sugar, for example, does a totally wicked range of slogan t-shirts, bottoms, jeans for kids etc from birth onwards in all kinds of colours, including black. cassette pet is another such clothing company. where i live in south london, there are lots of small independent shops selling unusual baby clothes. my daughter, for example, has a rather interesting, red tie-dyed t-shirt with a picture of nelson mandela on the front and a map of africa on the back. fun, huh?!

What colours could best represent the innocence and tenderness of babies but soft pastels. Think about it...

Pastel colours are soothing and calm. No one wants an irritated and cranky baby.
