...that the Catholic Church has renounced the concept of Purgatory and that Mass cards are now out of business?

I need facts, not cut-and-paste quotes and more rumors.

Regardless, Purgatory is not real. The Catholic Church invented it as a "fundraiser". They needed money to build the Vatican (and other things), so they figured it would be a great way to get parishioners to hand over money... who wouldn't want to buy their relatives out of Purgatory so that they could go to heaven. Try to find that in the Bible... you won't. Does the New Testament ever mention Purgatory? Did Jesus? Did He ever talk about his followers having to buy someone out of it? No! Because it is not Biblical.
As for the Mass cards. That's simply another thing that the Catholic church made up. These man-made "things" hold absolutely no importance when it comes to your eternal salvation.
Salvation comes from FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE! Nothing else will gain you entrance into Heaven. Nothing! Read your New Testament and you'll see.

It wouldn't surprise me. The Catholic Church was always a bit wishy-washy about their rules. Remember the no meat on Friday deal? Well, how about just during Lent, unless of course you are ill and need meat, or possibly if it falls on a day that ends in "Y". Okay, maybe not that extreme, but you get the picture. What ever happened to latin masses? Now they're like band concerts.

Both lies straight from hell.

James 2:19 says:
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
