The history channel can answer that question better than I can.
I'll try to sum it up in saying that, believe it or not, these people have fallen for an almost sinister branch of Islam that believes it must do everything in it's power to convert everyone to Islam, even if it means killing unbelievers so they can see God.
Remember, though, that it seems all suicide bombers are muslim, NOT that all muslims are suicide bombers.
In the same way I tell muslims all mass murderers are christians, NOT that all christians are mass murderers.

First of all, it is absolutely wrong that all suicide bombers are Muslims. There are so many evidences reveal that people from other religions were also involved in Suicide Bombing. However, at present juncture, many Muslims turn out to be suicide bombers due to the fact that they have been ill-treated by people/group/nations from other religions. They commit suicide bombing since they do not have any arms to fight against the mighty rivalry force, except stones. That is the reason, they decide to blow themselves in order to protect their dear ones or to take revenge for the atrocities done by their enemies. Islam, does not allow terrorism in any form. However, it does not necessarily mean that one should keep on adjusting himself and keep patience when the enemy keeps on attacking him.

Look at your history. Just about every war has had suicide bombers and they were not all Muslim.

Lots of muslims in the Arab countries are fooled by 'leaders' that are just jealous guys and they are leaders of the muslim 'church' I hate that word, but it's the only way I can explain. The leaders of those tell the followers that they will be with their God, Allah, if they kill themselves, and if they do it with non believers, they'll be even closer to him. These very deprived and innocent victims of the 'leaders' actually do these things, 'kill, destroy lives in their own country for practice' etc, to make themselves be eligelible for 'heaven'. They really beleive that they are doing the right thing. I think Ben Laden in his own mind feels justified in what he did. Even though, he was just hateful against Americans, he killed hundreds of people, from over 100 countries. He is all smiling to himself. His followers, and other's followers will do the suicide thing, but it's so funny in a way, because without putting 'beliefs' in there, they are done, like the ones they kill.
