Generally, beverages derived from fermented fruit juice is wine. However, commercially speaking, "wine" is fermented grape juice from Vitis vinifera. Other wines are specifically referred to by the name of the fruit of the juices from which they are fermented. For example, elderberry wine, peach wine, etc. Beer on the other hand is usually derived from fermentation of malt derived from the digestion of germinated barley grains, in western cultures, but other grains may be utilized in other cultures. There is also a difference between processes by which wines and beers are fermented.
Beer and spirits cause more cases of upper digestive tract malignancy than wine.

Most beer is made from a base of malted barley for fermentable sugar and hops for bitterness. To this base are often added other cereal grains in malted or unmalted form, and/or sugars. It is fermented with a beer yeast and then packaged, either in bottles or kegs. Most commercial beer is pasteurised and filtered, but some beers are what is called 'bottle conditioned' which means a further fermentation takes place in the bottle which give it its sparkel, or 'condition. These beers are often concidered better for you than filtered versions as the contain brewers yeast which is a good source of B vitamins. Hops are a natural herb which is often used in natural sleeping remedies as it is a sophorific. Beers can range from 0% to 21% ABV, although about 5% is the norm. Some chemialc additives are added to beers, usually by the very large breweries. Smaller micro breweries are more likely to use natural ingredients and keep additives to a minimum or not use them at all.
Wine is made from Grapes that are fermented either on or off the skins (red wines get their colour from their skins) then they are aged for a time to mellow and mature. They are reputed to contain antioxidants and other benificial ingredients that can help thin the blood and preotect from heart disease, but only when taken in moderation. Often wines are treated with various chemicals throughout their porduction, including sulphites, which could be harmful to some people, but the levels are in all probability, very, very low.
Both are harmful if taken in excess, both can be benificial if taken in moderation, beer usually has more calories than wine. In my opinion beer is a far superior drink, but I'm biased.
My recommendadtion is seek out a really good bottle conditioned beer made by a micro brewery. You'll get a good drink and a nice dose of B vitamins. Stay away from Stella Artois, it's full of chemicals and will make you act like a twerp and give you a terrible hangover.
If you are going to drink wine and don't mind spending a little more money, buy and organic wine and check that no sulphites or other chemcals have been used in its prduction.
Cheers!

Wine is made of grape and contains more alcohol (10-15%).
Beer can be made of several cereal-like crops and contains only around 5% alcohol.
Both can be healthy and harmful if you drink properly. A glass of red wine a day is recomended, and beer contains many vitamins too.

The taste is much different!! I prefer wine anyday!
Most wines contain about 12º alcohol, and most beers 4.5 -5º.
Beer is made from hops, and wine from grapes, both are fermented so that they become alcoholic drinks.
Beer is very fattening, heavier, and not as good for you.
A glass of red wine is good for you because of it's high percentage of iron - if you prefer beer, however, Guinness is high in iron too - all good for the blood.
Of course, in high quantities, neither of them is reccommendable!

They are processed differently. Beer is worse for you, but anything more than a glass a day of wine is bad too.

Beer & wine in moderate quantities, have health benefits because of isovavinoids (powerful anti-oxiydents) which help prevent several diseases. Only red wine and dark beer have these benefits and only in moderation.

Scientifically and logically speaking, both are as harmful when overdosed.
But I will have to go with wine. Firstly, it is not right to slime my own trade. Secondly, at least it doesn't give you a belly. :D
