It depends entirely on your definition of sin, and on your own ethical and moral senses. I've heard sin described as any act which is selfish because sin always has to have "I" in the middle. I would say that eating meat is selfish because of the environmental damage its production causes and the suffering it causes to the animals. So, if your conscience is telling you you're being selfish to eat meat, and you go ahead and eat it it might be considered sinful because you've acted in your own interested and replaced "I believe" with "I want".
I choose to be a vegan because I believe it is the most humane and environmentally sound way to act at this point in time. In Jesus's lifetime there weren't the options available to live in that way but I'd like to think if he was here now, he'd be wearing a Meat is Murder T-Shirt too!

On the one hand we studied in school that man is omnivorous. This implies man is capable of processing vegetarian as well as non vegetarian protein. Does this mean that man should eat meat. It really is a very personal question.
In some ways its like asking should I believe in God OR does God have a name OR is there a right religion - does God have one OR is external religious ritual more important than spiritual and humanitarian depth OR can I praise and worship God in return for some favours. The answers to this must remain deeply personal ones. We were made free. Man has the power to create and destroy. An awesome power. This power to choose whatever we want for ourselves and our lives.
Someone asked this question over lunch in the office the other day. Is it a sin to eat pork meat ? A deeply god fearing and spiritual colleague quoted the bible - It is far more important to take great care about what comes out of the human mouth than what goes into it. Words have the power to cause enmity, destruction and misery. So for sure do take care of what comes out of your mouth. What goes in cannot cause much harm.
Meat protein (amino acids) probably is more essential if one is an athlete or sportsman or body builder. One reason why India with the second largest population in the world produces no olympic champions - many say that the reason is little or no meat consumption.
The Buddha as well know was a great spiritual teacher who preached non violence. It is interesting to read that the Buddha advocated vegetarianism to his followers - because he did not want them to routinely kill animals. I presume the belief was that routinely killing animal life especially by one's own hand, reduced the respect for the sanctity of all life. But although he advocated vegetarianism the Buddha also believed it was much more important to show the highest degree of respect to one's host at a meal. So the Budhha taught if you are invited to a meal and your host puts a meat dish on the table - you must eat it. Not doing so would hurt the feelings of your host. All the world's religions all provide us with guidance on how to live our lives. Respect and love of our fellow beings must remain the foundation of a life well lived.

In islam no. But there are some forbidden meats. Pig is the most know. Also dead animal is not let to eat. Animals who eat meat are forbidden to eat, too.
There is a limitation eating meat. The prophet had never eaten meat unless he as visitors, since meat has always been a valuable food. Also, a person should not eat much meat because it makes one an angry personality.

Some Hindus and most Buddhists are vegetarian. I'm a Hindu but I do eat meat. It's not exactly a sin, it's just that these people stick to the ideology of non violence(and some of them feel that meat is disgusting).

Untimely death of any animal by killing is SIN. Eating meat is not the Sin. In other way you are facilitating the involment of the dead animal from which you get the meat, into the natural carbon cycle. It is quite natural and it is not sin. Plants also living creature, if you are vegetarian, do not you feel eating of vegetables as sin?

It relatively relies upon on your religious ideals. The Hindu faith forbids eating meat. Islam forbids eating beef. Judiasm forbids eating shellfish. Christianity has no regulations concerning to eating meat. i like to consume meat, and such as you, i became into nervous that it ought to no longer be ethical or ethical. i assumed approximately it for a on an identical time as, and then I remembered that Jesus ate meat, and He not at all reported it became right into a sin. i'm a Christian, so I stay in accordance to the classes of Jesus. different individuals would produce different religious ideals, and that's large. yet so some distance as i'm in contact, it is not a sin to consume meat.

It depends! As long as you eat the type CREATED for food then you'll be alright. There is certain meats such as pork- that are forbidden for food purposes:
Lev 11:46 This is the law of the beast, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth;
Lev 11:47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.

If you have a Bible - and chances are that you do - Leviticus Chapter 11 will give you the correct answer/guidelines for eating meat. This is NOT a simple Yes or No question. Never mind the OPINIONS of the Yahoo! Answers community.

Why should it be a sin? There is nothing wrong. Me, I enjoy my meat. If it's not wrong to have sex, why should it be wrong to eat meat? Look, I'm not saying I think it's wrong to have sex, okay. My issue is that I know people who will throw up at the thought of eating meat, for all sorts of reasons, yet they have girlfriends and they have sex with them.

For some Hindus (which I'm not) it is - veggies only. Some meat (such as pig, tiger, eagle, etc) is a sin to eat for followers of Islam. Pig/swine is a sin to eat for Jews also. Many religions have some sort of dietary laws.
