Sometimes when it opens, it shows the Reviewing toolbar. I don't want it and get rid of it every time (right click, uncheck the box) , but next time: there it is again! Can I stop this happening? Grrr! I like the wee cat tho!

Try this:
Select Tools from the menu bar, then
Customise...
You then get a dialogue box with three tabs, one of which is a
Toobars tab.
Uncheck "Reviewing", then
Click Close.
Hopefully, you will not be troubled again by this unwanted toolbar.

Chiefly because its a piece of software that has evolved over a number of years and has been endlessly extended so that in the end its a complete dogs breakfast. This is not only in terms of the poor user interface design but also due to the code being endlessly extended resulting in the all too familiar 'Windows has encountered an error and must shut down' message. I think as a product its lost its way, is it a word processor, desktop publishing package or a front page wanabee?

With regardsd to the reviewing toolbar, if you are using word at work, they may be using policies that restrict what personalised information is saved. So every time you log off the personalised settings are lost..

Personally I think the 'office assistants' are the most annoying things on the planet...

Is that a default setting? Are you opening up a reviewing template? or did you close it while it was still up?

Microsoft isn't as bad as AOL though XD
