There is no good way for a person to tell. A lot of breast cancers have no pain and some of the lumps are so small they are hard to find. The best thing to do is go to a doctor and he/she will arrange for you to have tests (mammogram, ultrasound, whatever is needed) The good thing is, these tests don't hurt although can be a bit embarrassing. The worst thing you can do is not check out what's causing you to think this. You'll just keep worrying and if there is something there, it will continue to grow until it can't be cured. Go to the doctor NOW, please. Best of luck to you and I hope it's all good news.

Breast cancer can be a silent killer and usually does not cause pain. The self examintation is the most important! You will know your breast the best and will know when there is an increasing lump or dimpling.

Women after 20 should be doing a self exam once a month. Young women's breast maybe naturally lumpy/bumpy and only consistent exam by you will know if it is cancer. 40+ year old should also add a mammogram once a year. If you are high risk (your mom or sister/ first degree relative had cancer or other risk factors) , then you should get a mammogram earlier. If you notice skin dimpling or a lump, go see your doctor. Mammograms are uncomfortable but not painful.

Breast cancer can be found either by mammogram, MRI, physical exam and biopsy. The lump usually doesn't hurt but it can. I found a lump 3 months after my annual mammogram, it hurt and it was cancer.

Lumps can also be cysts, or normal breast tissue. The best way to confirm a suspicion is to see your Dr. and get a mammogram and ultrasound and if they find something suspicious then a biopsy will be performed.

Depending on your age you should look at your breast and see if they have changed over the last few months. And start doing a (BSE) Breast Self Examination the information is on the internet just put in BSE on your browserand check it it will be very helpful to you dont be ashamed to do this if more women did a BSE on a monthly basis the breast cancer rate would be lower

See the link below for instruction on how to do a breast self exam. If you feel a lump or visually see changes or discharge see a doctor.

You wouldn't without testing. Mammos, ultrasound, biopsies. Cancer isn't always a lump, it doesn't always hurt, and sometimes you can't feel it. If you have a question, get it checked.
