It's all about what sells, apparently now it's gore. Sad hu?
To answer your question about being brainwashed, I think children are in a very vulnerable position. If they grow-up in an environment believing that gore leads to entertainment, I’m sure it won’t be too long until they start translating that idea into real life. There has already been a few cases like that.

Why is T.V. becoming more and more bloodier??
Because those who enjoy that type of thing are watching and enjoying it. It's all about ratings.
Are we being brain washed?
Well, I guess if it bugs you enough to ask about it, then no. You haven't been brainwashed. Life involves blood...and some books are bloodier even than t.v.
Brainwashed....no. At least in most of America, there are plenty of choices in what to watch. If a person is drawn to the show, they'll watch it.
Even I like a lot of the shows that are bloody...I just look away when they're showing the blood. My family laughs at me and tells me, "It's just ketchup!" But I have a vivid imagination, and I look away.
The CSI shows, for example. They have good plotlines...but the cutting up of cadavers? Oh BLECH! My sis, who's interested in the forensic sciences though, doesn't have a problem with it.
Bottom line is this. We all have choices. We can choose what we watch and what we read. No one can brainwash you without YOUR permission.
No. I don't think anyone's being brainwashed.

because the bloody movies are the cheapest movies so the tv stations buy them in blocks. because bloody news are sensational and grow ratings. and the bloodier they get the bloodier the public gets and wants more blood... it's a vicious circle. because the tv stations don't care about the effect of what they broadcast, they just want good ratings.

You have a choice, you know. We realized how violent TV was becoming and stopped watching. We have a TV but we use it for movies and play station games. We occasionally watch Antiques Road Show or documentaries on PBS but our TV doesn't get turned on most days.
Brainwashed isn't quite the right word-desensitized is a good word, or conditioned. Stop watching. There is so much more to life than TV.

It's the natural tendency to step it up one notch each year. Networks explore new ground and do something they haven't done before. Often, that means more violence and I suppose "blood" on TV.
Many forms of entertainment are the same way - not just T.V.

As incomprehensible as it is, that is what most people want to see. Until the non violent minority becomes the non violent majority, we cannot expect much from mankind.
There are whole societies that abhor violence, such as Germany, but only after having learned the hard way.

If they allowed more sex, they wouldn't have to crank up on violence to increase ratings.
