A friend just emailed me and told me to "get over myself." Well this won't fly but I can't think of anything to say that isn't too cruel. I just need something that will put him in his place, not really hurt his feelings.

If you don't want to hurt his feelings, then don't say anything sarcastic....ignore him and that will get him even worse. Don't answer any emails from him at all, not ONE. He'll realize that it's him that has to get over you, not you getting over yourself. It's quiet, not cruel, and hits like a bomb.

I would probably start by asking where the diploma was hanging that he received when he got his counseling license. and then say oh never mind I can tell by this advice that you must have flunked out of that one .........too.
