Just explain to your crush that your friend is going through hard times with a break up, and he needed to be there for him. You can ask your crush out to lunch and explain this to him, then you can sit over a good meal and be with the one you want to be with. If you fear asking him out to tell him this, well don't. You at least have a crush on this person, and a good way to impress him is make the first move. It may even suprise him.

Go with the guy you like, apologise to your friend, its what you really want, so go for it, trust me, life doesn't throw you many chances to grasp your own passions, Start putting yourself first immediately if not sooner, you deserve to get what you want.
After all, going to the dance with the one you want doesn't mean you don't appreciate the situation your friend is in and he should not be so selfish as to expect that of you.
If you do go with your friend instead who would you like to see your crush with?

I think you sud seat once with him try let him undrestand why done so honestly .If he is wise & really like you then he will understand . Otherwise don't run behind b'coz relations are made emotionally & voluntarily in which both the person sud have respect & affection for each other . So if u run behind him it will create wrong image rather try to show him what r ur good qualities after he make patch with you .So send him a nice card with nice belt & rose bend for patch up .

Tell your crush that you would love to save a few dances for him and that you are only going with guy friend because he's going through a bad time and if he knows any girls to hook him up with to cheer him up - you'd be happy to get a burger with him after you drop your friend off after the dance.
