Immigrants don't get deported, only ILLEGAL 'immigrants' (invaders). If they are athletes from another country and have a visa they are not ILLEGAL immigrants, they haven't decided to stay and live here without documentation. If they don't have legal documentation and they are living here (USA) they should be deported just like anyone else who is illegal.

The athletes are entitled to work in the country. Not all immigrants get deported, if they did then we would all be deported. Only ILLEGAL immigrants, meaning the ones that were not permitted to enter that could be depended on background, reason for being here and etc are deported

Well good question....
The system isn't fair. Since athlete's have something to offer, they are accepted here. If a Russian ice skater came here, say as a political refugee, and he was a champion, he would most certainly be accepted. We want a gold for US in ice skating in the Olympics!
But some poor smuck from Mexico with nothing to offer, he would not be accepted.....Aw life is never fair....

Almost every country requires you to have a "useful" skill to legally emmigrate, but it's generally not hard if you have that.
