It is okay. There are provisions for those you cannot fast.

I am sure you know the Arabic word "sawm" is used for fasting.

Here are the rules for Sawm:

The following exemptions apply:
1. The insane
2. Children who are not adolescent yet;
3. The elderly and chronically ill for whom fasting is unreasonably strenuous; Such persons are required to feed at least one poor person every day in Ramadan for which he or she has missed fasting.
4. Pregnant women and nursing may postpone the fasting at a later time;
5. The ill and the travellers can also defer their fasting.
6. Women during the period of menstruation or of post childbirth confinement. Fasting during these periods is forbidden and should be made up later, a day for a day.

Because you will be unable to ever fast you must feed at least one poor person every day in Ramadan for which you have missed fasting. You can do this a number of different ways.

Hope this helps.

And I agree with below to ask you Imam (Leader).

First of all many duaas and blessing to you and for your fast recovery INSHAHALLAH. I too had a similar problem last year. I was suffering from TB and was under the medication for 9 months during which ramadan passed and i just fasted 5 days and i could not after that because of the strong dosage which i would intake daily . Nearly 3000 MG per day. But when my dosage reduced to only 750 mg per day then i made up for my ramadan. In your case you are taking the medicine for life long and cant even make the days up inbetween, so i advise you to ask the sheikh and follow his fatwa which is better for you. Actually its wrong to ask common people such question because only knowlegeable sheikhs can guide in a correct way understanding your problem. So visit the web site below and give in your question under contact link or you can directly ask fatwas to this sheikh on his email :

So far as I understand it, the fasting is about spiritual purity, and submittance to God.

If you must eat with your medications God will understand. He cares for your health and well being.

Talk to your religious leader, and your physician and work out a plan for your month. Maybe you can eat a minimal meal with your medicines. Such as a nutrition bar.

This would provide a balance meal replacement for your nutrition, but would also provide a more restrictive and deprived diet in respect of your religion.

Good luck, and God Bless from a Christian to a Muslim

Take your medication,and forget about Ramadan,you are only going to pray to a black stone (that can not hear you,or answer prayers):
Take your medicine,Ramadan is not going to save your soul,only the grace of Jesus Christ can do that,but you first have to acknowledge he is the son of God/and not just a prophet (Jesus is much Greater,and holier than the pervert Muhammad):

You are free to skip fasting. However when you have become well, you must repay by fasting for the number of days of fasting you missed or give food to hungry people in the amount that you have forsaken when you were supposed to fast.

i would like to remind all the Muslim patients that illness is one of the occasions when Muslims are allowed to miss their fast.
"It is a concession offered by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and it is a sign of his mercy upon mankind.
Patients suffering from chronic illnesses such as breathing disorders, severe heart disease, kidney disorders or uncontrolled diabetes are automatically exempt from fasting because doing so may harm their health.
"It is not wise and not Islamic at all to cause suffering to yourself by not obeying instructions of the doctors while you are under treatment.
However, upon recovery one will have to make up for the days missed.

Take your medications so you can be healthy. There are certain times of life that you cannot do what you are supposed to do. God will understand. Your life and safety come first.

fasting does pose a problem for alot of people like yourself, maybe instead of a traditional fast you could give up something you really enjoy for an extended period of time, example: refain from drinking your fav soda, tea, or eating a particular food for a month, you can only do what you can do but this doesnt excuse you from doing something
