When the second Gulf war came about in 2003, one of the main concerns was that American SW Asians would not fight against their own...
Now.. that Bush has sent the gaurd to the border, with many more of hispanic origin and descent...in our military, than Middle Easteners, what would you say the probability of an American-Mexican turning on his country-- his oath, to disobey his orders and let "whomever" do as they please?
I mean come on.. Did this just skip through congress? Many military men/ women arn't even citizens yet. Why the hell would they protect something their not even apart of?
To me that's just a bit uneasy. With experience in the service, I can tell you right now, this issue may play a major one.
Hispanics aren't going to fight themselves...especially if they have family remaining on the other side.
I know they took the oath and all.. but, to many, an oath is just words...
Do you believe this is of some importance? And Why?
Thanks.. Rob :)~

Unfortunately you may have a valid point. Many hispanics in the military might refuse to participate or to follow orders they see as going against the heritage or culture. Maybe guardsman of Hispanic origin should be asked if they fell they could be capable of carrying out the orders give to them before they are assigned to work on the border. I have seen a report not long ago on gangmembers joining the military to,learn how to fight and use miltary tactics and weapons that they could then use on the streets of our hometowns. This could spell trouble if any kind of confrontation happens between the US and Mexico over illegal immigration.

Well, Hispanics have always patrolled borders, many are in the border patrol. I have three cousins who are border patrol agents...
I can see the conflict of interest. But I don't really think it is an issue, it hasn't been one in the past.
However, with more and more animosity towards illegals, some Hispanics may be offended by this. I am Hispanic and know I am offended by many here that say horrible things about Mexicans, illegals, etc.
Statements like 'why are Mexicans so ignorant', were not all ignorant, some of us do have an education. I would personally feel torn about sending people back. I know what these people have gone through living in Mexico. I think the immigration issue has to be addressed, but name calling isn't helping the situation....I do agree with you, it may be a problem in the future.
I think were on the right track, I support guarding the borders, I have seen it been very effective here in my border town...

I believe they would turn against the Americans and would not go against anyone from their country of origin.. I have always said I thought letting Illegal immigrants go into our armed forces in order to get citizenship was a mistake. The way they claim they hate "whitey" and other "Americans" only confirms they have no loyalty to the USA. I would not want them holding a gun behind our troops in Iraq and I wouldn't want them guarding the border with Mexico, whether they are legal or not. They are not to be trusted.

oh, i see they r only good enough to go to IRAQ right. what makes u think they won't help a taliban or Al-Queda? r u serious, dam that would b discrimination. if thats the case then take all teh Mexican-americans out of the military, army, navy, gvmt, & H*ll make Jeb Bush divorce his Mexican wife too, since they may all have conflicts of interest. then see how many Americans will b ready & willing to fight for this country!!!! i think ur a little paranoid. by the way, the Rosana, a mexican-american, heads up the minuteman here in illinois what's her excuse, would she then b a traitor of Mexico or US? u r definitly out there when it comes to this one.

I don't know about the military, but there are alot of Hispanics in the Border Patrol, and they frequently get busted for helping illegals cross.

I do feel that this is of great importance. I feel that any naturalized Mexican-American will be very torn when it comes to enforcing the immigration laws against Mexicans. I feel that they will be at much higher risk of being bribed, also. I don't know how this could be monitored and prevented, though.

Many of the border patrol and the Minutemen are Hispanics. And yes they do-.
Black cops arrest black criminals-white cops arrest white people.
It is not about Race-it is about law and order.
