Most often it either means you have hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, which is a tear in the tissues around the anus. (Both of which can be caused by constipation.) But...there are some potentially serious causes of such bleeding, such as some kinds of infections, intestinal inflammation, and cancer. It may also mean problems in other places in the digestive tract, if the blood is partially digested (which would produce dark BMs). If it happens more than once, I would contact a doctor just to be sure it's nothing serious.

it can mean you have some serious intestinal problems. It depends on if the blood is fresh (red) or not (darker). You should most likely see a doctor. If you have hemorroids(sp?) it could just be them bleeding. but if the blood is darker then it could have come from somewhere else in your intestines.

it could be a busted hemmeroid, or diverticulitis if it just happens once or twice, I wouldn't be too worried.
If it happens frequently I would get to a doctor.
