Santa Monica is the closest. Santa Monica is @ 30 miles and without traffic - all freeway so you can make it there is 30 minutes or less.
Zuma Beach is in Malibu and is 45 miles, but as part of the drive is through the canyon - it is a slower drive and will take you an hour or so to get there.

Take the 118 west, to the 405 south and exit at Rosecrans and make a right. Go all the way down Rosecrans (about 4-5 miles) and you will hit Manhayyan Beach! It's one of the most beautiful and fun beaches in SO CAL.
Have some mexican food and a margarita at Pedro's and you'll be sure to have a great time!

honestly, hon.. you can take your pick. Becasue Sylmar is way out in BFE.. not near any beaches, but closer to the mountains. I've stayed in Sylmar before right off of Encinitas Road.. and ther eis nothing out there.. its just dusty, and a lot of retired people live out there.

the nearest one is in Santa Monica, I think. It will be more than half an hour drive. Enjoy your stay !!!!!!!! Welcome to sunshine California !!!!!!!
