Ive almost always been a taylormade guy so when i cracked the face on my r7 quad i bought the newer version the r7 460 10.5 stiff. Then my dad had me try a titleist 983k 8.5 stiff after i bought the new r7, which is then when i hit them both the r7 went about 270 when i hit it hard but the misses were always high slices that only went 250. When i hit the 983k the all but on were perfect trajectory and more like 290. I was wondering if the same effects would happen with the r7 if it was an 8.5 degree as well.

I like the Cleveland Launcher or the Hi-Bore. But I think one of the best things you can do is pull a Jarmo Sandelin (European Tour Player) and increase your shaft length and just decrease your backswing for better control and keep your current distance. You will score better.

For a serious golfer, the lure of changing and trying out different equipment is always tempting. So unless you got tons of cash to spare, I suggest you just try out the lower loft r7 during demo days or at a pro shop at a range on the pretext of shopping. That might answer your question.

A lower loft is actually more difficult to hit but it might suit your swing. I wouldn't know. But both Titleist and TM make good equipment and are brands you can trust. You don't have to be a all TM guy.

I'm a TaylorMade guy. More PGA pros hit TaylorMade than all other brands combined. I would demo the r7 with the 8.5 degrees loft and see what you think.

the 8.5 will not necessarily help your slices, it will make them lower in trajectory though. from what you said I 'd stick with the titleist. I prefer TM's myself but since you're having good results with the titleist, why change?
