How can you easily measure ounces?

I want to be able to look at something and estimate how many ounces. I can do this with cups. Any ideas?

2 TBS = 1 oz

Ounces would be harder to estimate as items weigh differently.
8 ounces of a liquid might be a cup while 8 ounces of a heavy solid would be less. Invest in a small scale.

That depends if your measuring for volume or weight. Solid or liquid?
