I have lost around 60 lbs in 6 months and I will tell you what not to eat. The first myth we have been told is that fat is bad. Sugar and carbohydrate is the big nasty. In fact reduced fat food that has had some fat removed is actually more fattening than the regular food because the removed fat in most cases is replaced with carbs! This is the main reason why you must absolutely stay away from ALL processed food with no exception. Eat fresh and natural.

The other thing you must do is keep your insulin as low as possible by getting sugar and carbs in your diet as close to zero as you can and not having ANYTHING between meals. Also having at least 5 hours between one meal and another. The last meal of the day must be no later than 9pm. Insulin is a hormone that will absolutely block fat and protein burning in your body and force it to burn sugar, that's how it works. You will NOT lose weight with your blood stream flooded with insulin.

You must have at least 8 glasses of water a day, in order for your liver and kidneys to excrete the fat from your body this is crucial.

Now, what you must stay away from and I mean, non at all. Bread, pasta, rice, pastry, sugar, potato, onion, parsnip, sweet potato, pumpkin, beetroot, carrots, peas, spreads like butter and margarine and be very careful of sauces and condiments. Fruit and milk should be taken very, very sparingly because they are fattening. Fruit is full of sugar too, only a very small amount. Avoid all processed food including diet soda it will stimulate insulin. 3 cups of black tea or coffee WITH meals a day is OK.

OK, if you are still with me, what can you eat? In a nutshell you replace the carbs you have removed with protein and green leafy vegetables. Do not mix protein only 1 per meal. This is what you can eat. Lean meat, poultry, fish, cheese, yoghurt and eggs are your permitted proteins. Cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, capsicum, mushroom, celery, zucchini and a small amount of tomato. You can have unlimited amounts of lettuce and cucumber but ONLY at meal times. You can use balsamic vinegar as a dressing; mustard is ok too but only made from the powder. Shop bought is full of sugar! Curry powder in cooking can be used as well. One tablespoon of olive oil is ok per day, in cooking and as a dressing.

I will GUARANTEE if you stick to this you will loose heaps of weight, fast. I know it's not easy and you need the support of your family too.

Just another couple of things I forgot. NO breakfast cereal and avoid really heavy exercise you will just burn glycogen in your muscles, not fat and it will just make you sore and tired. You need prolonged gentle exercise to burn fat like walking. You don't need to exercise at all on this diet as long as you're moving about. Last but not least read food labels and look at the ingredients. Avoid foods like the plague with more than 5 grams of carbohydrate per 100 grams.

Good Luck. Jules, lecturer. Australia.

This years best diet plans can be found at DIETPLANSCIENCE.COM cost free. Does the word "diet and weight loss" immediately make you think of an unpleasant weight-loss regimen? If it did, you are probably not alone. For example, consider the use of the term "diet" in marketing food products—it usually describes foods low in calories, such as diet soda. But there is another meaning of this word. Diet can also refer to the food and drink a person consumes daily and the mental and physical circumstances connected to eating. The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary gives two definitions of nutrition: "the sum of the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilizes food" "the act or process of nourishing or being nourished" While both are correct, the second definition is more inclusive and suggests that food involves many different things, including love, satisfaction, and enjoyment. Nutrition involves more than simply eating a “good” diet—it is about nourishment on every level. It involves relationships with family, friends, nature (the environment), our bodies, our community, and the world. Choices about nourishment are very much linked to other human beings and other life forms on this planet, so healthy (and unhealthy) decisions have great impact. lose 30 pounds in 1 month.

Most reputable places will recommend losing approx. 1 - 2 lbs per week because if you loose too fast you will loose more muscle than fat and you are more likely to gain it back quickly if it is too fast. I have gone to weight watchers since Feb. 6, 2006 and have lost a total of 59.6 lbs. in that time. The closer you are to your true weight the harder it is to loose because when your big you used more energy and burn more calories doing the normal things that a slim person would do.

I lost 60 lbs in 60 days eating fruit and vegetables cooked and raw and eating chicken and fish for meat. I was never hungry as I ate until I was full. Not saying it was a balanced diet but it sure worked well for me. Not only did I keep the weight off, I continued to lose weight after stopping the diet and returning to eating anything I wanted. I drank lots of purified water during the diet phase and continue drinking lots of pure water to this day. Perhaps adding a multi-vitamin a day to help balance the diet in a minimal way.

I used to own a medical weight loss clinic, doctor supervised, registered nurses, and health counselors, where we saw our "patients" or clients three times a week. We had women on 1,200 calories a day, men on 2,000, and they would lose 66 pounds in around nine months if they followed our instructions. But if you're trying to do it yourself, it could take a while longer. Give it a good try though.

You should aim for about 35 weeks - that would be fairly aggressive. Try for 2-3 kilos per month, and tick off your progress as you go.
