I think I want to go back to my natural hair color...brown. Right now I'm a blonde. Will this cost a lot of money and is it possible?

it's easier to go darker than it is to go lighter. All you have to do is dye it. I'd suggest having it professionally done the first time & then do it yourself after that(if you want to). It may lighten quick because the base color is so light but once you dye it dark a few more times it should be all set.

The cost all depends on how much the salon you are going to charges for dye jobs

Get a good inch or two of new growth. Go to a salon. The stylist will be able to match the color of your new growth with a color they have there, and while it won't be your natural color exactly.. it should blend in enough so you can't see that you are growing out your colored hair.

Don't attempt this at home.. because you have blonde hair now.. you may need a filler in your hair (its a hair color with gold or red tones) before the brown is added to insure the color takes.

Don't buy store bought salon products.. they do funny things and aren't what they seem to be. I had a client come in to the salon with a box that said Golden Ash Blonde on it.. Golden means gold and Ash means green... so her hair should have had a golden green undertone.. her hair was red!! If you know anything about art you know that red is the opposite of green on the color wheel and that when you add green to something, it is supposed to neutralize any red you might have.

Yes it`s possible. It shouldn`t cost a lot of money but you have to go to a good hair dresser. First of all you will need to dye your hair again with a color that is very close to your natural color and when your hair grows you won`t know the difference and the dye will fade away in time. But be careful because the hair dresser has to pick a darker color than your natural one with a shade or two because you have blond hair and so the color will be brighter. Anyway on all dye packs there are graphs that show the result you`ll have on each hair color.

Yes, it is possible. In fact, if you are at all familiar with colouring your hair, you could do it yourself.

A few caveats:
A darker colour over blonde will tend to fade~ Be prepared to colour often until that stops.

You MUST match your tones!! If you do a cool brown over a warm blonde, you will end up with green hair! As I once learned the hard way!

So, decide if your hair is warm or cool. Ash, beige, those are cool tones. Golden and natural are warm tones. Buy the shade of brown you like in the proper tone and apply following the instructions.

If you do get green, don't panic! Just throw a semi-permanant red over it. The red will neutralize the green. And get the right tone of brown next time.

Yes you can go back to brown, it will be no problem you just have to decide whether you want to go to a salon or buy dye from the drugstore. If you buy dye from the drugstore, it is OK, as long as you probably don't want to go back to blonde because it will be very difficult to get all the pigments out from a drug store hair dye.

Whatever you do-DO NOT USE ASH!!! Ash dyes deposit green into your hair and since you have no pigments right now, your hair will turn greenish/brown if you use it. With blonde hair, you need to deposit red pigments into your hair, so use either a golden brown or a plain brown, whatever shade you want - light brown, medium golden - whatever you like.

You may have to redye your hair ever 4-6 months since the dye will probably slowly wash out of your hair, but it will be much less maintenance than the blonde was.

If you buy drugstore brand dye - be careful. Personally, I would never, ever touch Clairol. I used Nice & Easy brown on my hair (it was blonde and I wanted to go back to my natural hair colour). A few months later I tried to bleach it out and nothing happened - I called Clairol and they told me that their hair colour will not come out and I need to cut all my hair off - that was actually what she told me (among other very rude things). I went to several salons where every single one told me that they have had a lot of problems with people coming in unable to get Nice & Easy out of their hair - so I know it's not just me.

I did grow my hair out for a year and a half and in that time I used L'oreal dark brown hair dye a few times. In the last month I've rebleached my hair and the dark brown came out, so I would trust L'oreal.

Good luck.

You can go back to brown, but the dye will fade and it will never match exactly. DO NOT put straight brown dye on your blonde hair, it will turn green or gray, you need an orange or red filler to go with it.

no i just did the same three months ago! i just let my roots grow out about an inch and asked the lady in the salon to give me a full head weave the closest color to my natural brown and i cant even tell my hair has been growing because it blends so well!!

Yeah you just have to cut all your hair off, go bald, and let it grow back out again. Haha what? Don't look at me like that.

OK well that might the radical choice, but you could just let your hair grow out and not color it anymore (after going to a salon and having them match your color back to original). After many haircuts you will be back to the original with no coloring.

Make it happen!

Try buying a dark ash blonde or a light brown on top to the colour you have

You can't really dye back to your natural color, because everyone's natural color has natural highlights and whatnot. You can dye back close to it to prevent incredibly visible roots, but the only way to get back to your total original is growing it out. It sucks, trust me. I'm growing my hair back out to my original color and I've got half light blonde, and half dirty blonde.
