Because Jesus is God. Good trivia questions too.

Seems you got a lot of those trinity believers to answer this. Now I will give you an opinion that is a little bit different and maybe you will see the lie in the trinity.

Do you not know there exists limitless first and lasts. June 1 is the first day of June and June 30 is the last. On a calender Sunday is the first day of a week and Saturday is the last. Likewise there is a first second in a minute and a last second in the same minute.

My friend the words first and last should not determine a specific belief. It is not in the use of the same words that makes the object or situation the same. If you look only ate the words, you will see the words "the Father and I are 1" and think that Jesus said he was God Most High like those so called Christians do. Let a good foundation and pure constantly consistent truth guide you in your thoughts.

In Isa 44:6 God Almighty said He was the first and the last God Most High. Jesus was the First to be redeemed from eternal death and the last to have to face death because if one did believe in him he could now pass directly to eternal life without passing through death. Jesus is not God Most High and never claimed to be.

You give it some thought and do smile on this great day.

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all ONE

Just like I'm a daughter, sister, and aunt: three different identities but the same person.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and earth, all three were present. God the Creator, Jesus the LIGHT, and Holy Spirit who hovered over the earth, you can find this in the first few verses of Genesis. Later in chapter 9 you will see that God said: "Let's make man in OUR image", not His own, but their image.

Therefore, Jesus is God... He is the first and last, Alpha and Omega.

You will learn when the scriptures talking about God the Father, or God the Son.

God Almighty is God the Father
Almighty God is Jesus

Also when is says LORD this is referring to God the Father
when it is Lord this is referring to Jesus.

Jesus humanity began in the New Testament true, but Jesus is found in every book of the Holy Bible. Jesus has many names throughout. Check it out you will be surprised to learn that Jesus is from the beginning to the end of the Bible.

The "humanity" of Jesus did begin in Bethlehem but Jesus was creator of all things. Jesus IS God the Son. That is something we cannot understand because we know nothing but time and mass. God/Christ/Holy Spirit has neither.

Jesus WAS the OT God! He's been the only one that's ever communicated with humans thru out history. Remember, he is the spokesman of the God family:

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

WORD, in the above verse, means spokesman or speaker!

Jesus said that no one has ever seen God- and that HE [Jesus] has DECLARED HIM! That means that no one's ever known the Father- up until that point. The ONLY God anyone had ever known was Christ! And now Christ is here declaring him:

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath DECLARED him.

Remember, Jesus was the great, I AM, of the OT:

Exo 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

So, it was Jesus Himself in Isaiah 44:6, that said this. Once again- it was HE, that was the OT God! It was He that led Israel out of Egypt:

1Co 10:1 Now I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
1Co 10:2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
1Co 10:3 and all ate the same spiritual food,
1Co 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were drinking from that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock WAS Christ.

This requires a little understanding of the the Old Testament which isn't easy to grasp in English. To help us understand it, grab your Bible's and turn to St. John 1. as well as Genesis 1.

John details the existence of "The Word" as having been in the beginning with God and at the same time BEING God. If you flip to Genesis (and this really requires an understanding of Hebrew)... we find two distinct entities... we find God (El Shaddai) and God's creative power (Adonai). It was this creative essence of God that we find in John being called The Word. Further down in the first chapter of John, we find these words: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us... an obvious reference to Jesus....

So we find Jesus as "the Word"... God's power of Creation, wrapped in human flesh... True his human form had its start in Bethlehem, but He existed from before time.

I hope this helped a little.

First of all you need to understand the Triune God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These are all the same and yet all different. Jesus was God in Human form. God the father refers to him as the creator. God the Holy Spirit is what works in those of us that have the faith in the spirit. This is evident in a lot of religions.

Before coming to the earth as Jesus of Nazareth, Christ was the god of the O.T. but not the supreme being. The one that actually created humans was a subordinate of the one that said "Let us make man in our image," That's why John 1:3 says all things came into being by means of The Word (Christ). Christ was the creator, but not the loving god that he later came to reveal during his ministry as a man. If this sounds confusing, it's all cleared up in a new book titled The Project. Written in what seems to be a science-fiction story, it's actually the story of creation and original sin. If you'd like to read it, you can access the first chapter by going to www.iuniverse.com and typing in the author's name, James Joseph.

Because Jesus is God. That's one of the verses I point to in a commentary I wrote on the 7 churches of the book of Revelation.

http://web.express56.com/~bromar/html/smyrna.html

Rev 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

1. Smyrna: In Roman times, Smyrna was considered the most brilliant city of Asia Minor, successfully rivaling Pergamos and Ephesus. It was located on the western coast of Asia Minor, at the head of a gulf which reaches 30 miles inland.

a. The word Smyrna means myrrh which was used as a perfume and was also used to anoint a dead body. Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus brought myrrh and aloes to anoint the body of Jesus after his crucifixion. (John 19:38,39)

b. The city had strong ties to Rome with a large cult of Emperor worshippers. Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna, was martyred, though without the sanction of the Roman government. It seems that the Jews of Smyrna were more antagonistic than were the Romans to the spread of Christianity, for it is said that even on Saturday, their sacred day, they brought wood for the fire in which Polycarp was burned.

2. These things saith the first and the last

By identifying himself as the first and the last, Jesus declares his deity.

a. Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.(Isaiah 44:6-8)

Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel (this is God), and his redeemer the Lord of hosts: (this is Jesus) and they are the same regardless of when Jesus took his fleshly form because even in his fleshly form, he was still God the Son; therefore was entitled to continue to speak through Isaiah and say "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." You will remember he also told Moses that he was "I Am that I Am".

In the beginning was The Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. John 1:1 and The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14

The "Word" is Jesus. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He was there in the beginning (our beginning) and He'll be there when the world ends. When time ends. When we all go to dwell in Heaven with Him.
