I'm over 50 and have had years of back injuries making situps and other similar exercises difficult. I'm tired of being forced to answer this question and think it is inappropriate. What should I say?

I used to say, No I'm just fat, but one woman started jiggling my belly and said, Are you sure? I was at a work party and had to remain calm and polite. Also to the person who suggested diet and exercise: I walk at least a mile a day with my dog and really don't eat all that much.

You could answer it like this: "No, are you inbred?" but that probably is not the nicest thing to say! But, if you want to be nice, you could say, "No, but it is nice of you to think I am young enough to be pregnant." Me, I am the sarcastic type and would go with the first one!

If you are overweight you should do something about it. The are other ways to loose weight besides sit ups. Not only will losing weight avoid this uncomfortable situation but you will improve your health. Being 50 and overweight is a recipe for disaster. You should not feel "forced" to answer anything from anyone and it certainly is inappropriate for anyone to ask if you are pregnant. Just remember that they are ignorant and you are a better person, just say "no" and don't worry about it.

I know what you mean! I get asked a particular question a lot & I'd like to tell people what they could do with it!
Anyway, I'm wondering if a simple response such as,"I've had surgeries, but, no, thank goodness I'm not pregnant! How are things going for you and your family these days?" (quick subject change) No need to go into further detail. Just be consistent with changing the subject.

it is nice to get feed again, it makes you imagine extra about your emotions for each call. Of the three you indexed i like Gideon and Wesley is superb. Wes is one in each of the further appropriate nickname then Gid that is quite beautiful. I surely might want to say i'm style of biased antagonistic to the call, Wesley, because of a stuck up kinfolk I once met with a son named Wesley. He turned right into a real brat. So the call, Wesley, is probably extra proper then only the ok which I supply it. concerning Julius, imagine drink, your son will be listening to some thing about Orange Julius for some thing else of his existence. Plus Julius or Julian sound style of girly. i visit take heed to the children calling a boy by using those names both Julie or Julia. for that reason i'd under no circumstances call my son Julius or Julian. i like Leon (Lee-On or Lee-In) both pronounciation is positive. at present one in all my well-known names is Calvin Ellis. I also like Cooper Leon or Ian Gordon. those may no longer sound so positive to you. yet that is the way it is going isn't it. we received't please each man or woman, so please your self. go with a popularity you want and optimistically received't reason your newborn any grief. acceptable needs for a contented healthy infant. *:)

It IS inappropriate - and downright rude! Stop trying to be polite and just stare coldly and say "Why on earth would you ask such a ridiculous - and personal --question?" I'm sorry for your pain, I know how tiring back pain can be and it sounds like you've had a lot of it.

I've had that happen before after I had gained weight rather quickly. I said, no I'm just fat...it made the person feel so bad for asking that she'll probably never ask anyone again.

It is not worthy of a response; ignore the question. If you feel forced to respond just look them straight in the eye, and say "No." And if someone continues to inquire, just say nothing. They have no class.

It is completely ignorant for someone to ask that. I know it must be hard, but try not to let it bother you so much.

I have a cousin that looks pregnant, but isn't. She just laughs and says, "No I'm not pregnant, just fat...ha, ha ha.
Gets them everytime!
You can shut them up in a hurry with that line.
