my friend is moving back to canada (she is a citizen) after living in the us for a short time. whe wants to know if she brings a truckful of her furniture for her house, will she have to pay canadian duty on it?

The link below lists all the requirements. Basically, it looks like your friend will have to prove that she owns, posses, and uses the furniture to avoid paying tax. (Sales receipts and registrations are helpful)

i don't thing that she will have to pay duties on moving her possesions here, I would check the two sites below for detailed info, the customs site should have border tarrif answers and the moving servoces site has lots of good info for getting through customs and finding good international movers to help out
