I don't have this what you are describing, but my former husband did and he couldn't stand it anymore so he killed himself. Don't go to that extreme. See your doctor and ask for a battery of tests. It could be a number of things. Do you drink? Are you a diabetic? Do you have heart problems? How do you hear? ANd, when they tell you what it is, follow their suggestions and take your meds! My husband refused until he was given only three months to live and he had that ringing for 18 years.

I've had ringing in my ears for the past 50 years. I soon learned to focus on what I was doing and and tune out the noise. I don't even hear it unless I happen to think about it, like now when I'm answering your question.

I've heard that there are methods that you can use to learn how to tune out the noise but I never looked into them because I already knew how to do that. A good ear doctor should know.

The problem is called tinnitus and is caused by damage to your inner ear. You should get this checked out by a specialist in
ear, nose and throat medicine. An ENT doctor.

You will have to protect your ears from loud noises as they can cause ear damage or make it worse if you already have it.

I'm a registered nurse. although i don't specilize in ears, i know fo a fact that it is not normal for your ears to ring. sure it may ring at times, but if it is frequently, it means there is some level of ear damage. when your ear rings it is because it is becoming or is already damaged. it is irritated. go check it out and read on...

Symptoms: Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ears)
Ringing in the ears, or tinnitus, is another symptom of TMJ that is commonly misdiagnosed and often goes untreated or is treated ineffectively. In many cases ringing in the ears is one of the results of having a strained bite in which the jaw is not aligned. The jaw area of the face is a complex network of muscles and nerves, and when the bite is misaligned muscles and nerves throughout the head, including the ears, can be affected.

If your neuromuscular dentist diagnoses the cause of your tinnitus to be an unstable or misaligned bite, he or she can work with the source of the problem by stabilizing and realigning the bite so that the entire jaw area works together without pain. Your bite will be back to its normal position, relieving the ringing in your ears that was caused by the misaligned bite

An infection can cause ringing, and it can last for months. Exposure to loud noise can do this, and it can be permanent. If you are close enough to the shooting to cause temporary ringing, you need ear protection. Even if you are not, you should use ear protection. Don't play games with your ears. If you get damage from loud noises, it can be permanent and your ears can ring for the rest of your life. You should see a doctor to make sure there is nothing wrong.

If this is for a long time, it is Tinnitus. For full details on reasons and simple remedies please check up:

Ayurvedic oil named "Bilva Tailam" helps, if put in the ear 2 drops at bedtime, after warming it a little. But the length of time for which it may be needed depends on how long you are suffering from Tinnitus. Take one month for every year you are suffering from.

If you do not get Bilva Tailam, try Mahanarayan tailam, that too may give 60% effectiveness. The ear is the gate to 8th Cranial nerve, termed Cochelar nerve, and Tinnitus is often due to lack of nutrition "Shleshak kapha" to this nerve.
