Alright, my friend use to date this guy for about 2 1/2 years or so, and they had broken up about a year ago. Well, she just asked me if it would be a bad thing to date his 'use to be' best friend. The two guys havent talked in about a year. But were really close. I dont know what to tell her. Could you help?

Why not?
Especially if the guys have already fallen out somewhat.
Who knows, it might end up being a really good thing.

I know someone in a similar situation who ended up having a long term, wonderful, far better relationship with the "ex-best friend". They are still together, and have a child together.

Friendships don't always last forever, because people change and grow apart. Some friendships last for years and years, but more often, its a passing thing, that changes as we change.

If all involved are mature adults then where is the problem-obviously there is a reason or reasons why she & the first guy aren't together and even if the 2 guys were still friends it shouldn't matter as long as openess and honesty are shown

Well that's up to her. I mean it could look bad, but it all depends on how much she cares about what others have to say and how much she cares about the ex guy she used to be with and his feelings. I dated a friend of my exes. I don't know if he knows and the messed up thing is, I would still date my ex. I don't think they are that good of friends, but I know they have hung out in a group before.
Sometimes I wonder what they think of me and what I think of myself, but then I know me and I know they know me and they know what type of person I am.

I would say that it would not be a good idea. Ladies get out of the same group there are other men out there besides the people you know or met through your ex-boyfriends.

It sounds like it should be ok. Go with the flow. If they are not best friends right now and have not been for awhile, things should be ok
