Some shampoos actually harm your hair and/or scalp. I want to know which brands to avoid and which brands don't do anything for your hair and which are actually good to use.

Any shampoo you can buy in a store is bad!! The cheaper ones tend to strip your hair of moisture leaving it frizzy and dry. The more "expensive" ones usually have wax in them.. this builds up in your hair and cannot be washed out with regular shampoo.

OTC dandruff shampoos will do a number on your scalp.. they actually strip away the top layer of skin on your scalp.. and it will clear up the dandruff until you stop using it.. then, much like a healing wound.. the skin flakes as it grows back.

For an even more economical reason.. the shampoo you buy in the store is mostly water. You are paying $1-10 for a bottle of water with a little bit of soap.

Buy your shampoo in a salon. The stuff they have there costs more but the reason behind that is simple.
First.. how are you going to do research and development on a product you are selling for $1??
Second.. it is concentrated. It is not full of water. A liter of salon shampoo will last a man with short hair one year because you only need a dime sized amount. That adds up to about $2.50/month if you are using something that costs $30 (most are cheaper than that). Thats probably what you are spending now.

Professional shampoos and conditioners don't build up. People always say your hair "gets used" to a shampoo and it stops working.. this is a myth.. If you are using pantene for too long, it makes your hair dull and lifeless.. its still doing exactly what it was doing.. adding wax to your hair... ever see what waxy build up on a floor looks like.. imagine that in your hair. Your hair gets "new life" when you switch to a different product because you strip the wax out with the cheap stuff.

Avoid Hebal Essences...! It smells good, but I've heard many, many times that it is very damaging to your hair and scalp. I've heard Head and Shoulders & Pert makes your hair fall out. Myself, I find Tresseme really weighs down my hair.....Not exactly damaging though. When it comes to hair, it's always better to spring the extra change and buy your products from the Hair Salon. (Even avoid the shampoo that says it's made in a Salon...It's not. And if it was, it would be in one.)

Many human medications are very bad for cats-ibuprofen, aspirin, Tylenol all can kill cats. Christmas tree tinsel and thread can do a lot of damage. Milk is definitely bad. Feeding a diet other than cat food is bad too. Cats need taurine in their diet, most animals don't. Cats also need more protein than other animals.

Any shampoo that contains sulphates of any kind or cones of any kind can be harmful to your hair.

Try to pick shampoos that don't contain those ingredients. Your hair will thank you for it.

Well my girlfriend uses tresseme and when she went to the salon for some highlights redone her stylist told her that she was in bad shape because her hair wasn't shiny at all and was very dry... So I wouldn't recommend it.
