It's going to be 100 degrees here tomorrow. My cat will be alone in my apartment with no air conditioning all day while I'm at work. I'll leave a fan on for her as well as plenty of water, but I'm wondering if it's better to leave the windows open so the air will circulate of if I should keep them closed to keep the apartment as cool as possible. What works best? It doesn't usually get that hot here. . .

The news says that if you close the window and keep the shades closed, you block the heat from entering. If you do that, i don't suggest turning on the fan. Don't you hate answers that tell you to just take it to the neighbor's house. It's like.. hey.. i have work.. can i leave my cat w/ you?

Keep the apartment as dark as possible - turn off as much electrical equipment as you can - (TV, computer, Microwave) these can produce heat. Keep the window closed - especially if there is no screen and leave a fan on. Be careful with the fan so that the kitty cannot get hurt by it. They kitty will probably sleep all day and be ready to play when you get home. Our kitties are like that. Just 5 minutes ago they were chasing each other through the house after they slept all day long.

Can you pull down shades to keep out the sun and leave the fan in a window (assuming the window has a screen)? The circulating air should be okay and yes, it's a good idea to leave fresh water. Last week, I left an ice cube on the tile floor for my cat to play with. Now that was fun to watch!

i say you keep the window closed so that you are not letting hot air in and cold air out see if you close the window with you are never suppost to leave open sommone could crawl throw your window you know but anyways it keeps all the air in but if you leave the window open the fan will be useless this is a good idea i hope you agree ok good luck for tommorow!~lover~

Leave them closed. the cat will not want to lie in the sunlight (they like that) if it is 100 degrees. It will most likely retreat to a sink or another place that is generally cooler (in front of the fan).

I actual ought to keep it closed. My living house has an alarm equipment, and my mom doesn't like me beginning the living house windows, because it messes the equipment up. yet when i ought to, i'd keep it open all day, and into the nighttime, ultimate it earlier than I went to mattress. do not pick any stalkers sneaking in, you understand.

I'd ask a friend or neighbor to keep her for the day.
Trust me, they can get sick, or even die when there like that.
For whatever time your gone, would you like to be in there for that much time with a fur coat on?

if you can shut all the blinds to keep the sun out, i think you should probably go with windows closed. but that's a guess.
