Nope! Sounds like his mother could use some parenting skills. That is about the meanest thing I've heard in a long time!

I don't know what else she has tried; I have had friends say they kept the smaller size as "their goal" to get into - maybe she's doing that, but buying new ones, that's just sad. I hope she stops and stops soon.

No it's stupid. Smaller clothes are rarely a good incentive to lose weight and smaller clothes on pple just make them look bigger/worse

Not really, cause if he don't loose weight, he will never be able to wear them. I think if some one was to do that to me, it would hurt my feelings very badly. If she was going to buy him smaller jeans, she needs to wait until he gets to that weight if he is trying to loose weight. But then again, if he is trying to loose weight, that might be a way to get him to get to that goal. But if he wasn't trying to loose weight to start with, then it was a very bad thing to do all to gather.

no, I think that is cold and unkind-being overweight is similiar to any other disease and unless the person who is suffering from this is ready and willing to commit to losing weight there is not much anyone else can do. Your friend's mother needs to be supportive and understanding.

That is a terrible thing to do, she should talk with him and explain the health problems with being overweight, shaming someone can make the problem esculate.

It is probably normal. But whether it is healthy, I can't say.
remember that she loves him and wants the best for him. She is just doing the best she can.

it's not normal to use deceit to 'con' him into something that we can't deal with respectfully and intelligently. what she did is not a gesture of love - it's a cowardly act of deception to get what she wants.
