Gingivitis doesn't spread. Even though its called gum disease its not actually a disease. You can't catch it or spread it.

Gingivitis is just the name for the reaction your gum has when you have let plaque grow under the gum for too long. (plaque is made of bacteria and ur gums don't like it). So unless you don't clean the plaque from under your gums on all your teeth it won't spread to them.

It is possible to brush too hard. Use a Soft tooth brush and gently clean your gums. ( you need to try and get the soft bristles slightly under your gumline everywhere.)

If you can clean the plaque out, you wont' get bleeding gums.

Garggle with chlohexidine to kill any germs in your mouth. Garggle with salt water for gum-healing. Gingivitis can lead to periodontal complications. If you don't see the dental surgeon soon, you'll lose all your teeth in time to come. Use a very soft bristle toothbrush and use gum-friendly toothpaste like Sensodyne or Periogencyl.

My gums bled a lot when I was younger because I was not taking care of them. Brush at least twice a day but don't brush too hard or you can damage your teeth. This happened to a friend of mine.

Go to the dentist!! Yes, it can spread and it will! Make sure that you are brushing correctly...hold your toothbrush at an angle to your teeth. Brush AWAY from the gumline not toward it or straight across. Good Luck!
