There is, in all things, an esoteric and exoteric. An inner and outer side of things. So it is in this question. There is a worldy and a spiritual answer, you can use what you like.

The worldly answer is if the universe began as a big bang, from one point in the universe, then all atoms, and their inevitable paths, can be recorded and predicted. A mind great enough, which I'm not but you can let me know, could track every speck of matter traveling from that bang and find their collisions, their subsequent changes, and even the inevitable evolutions created by the inevitable life that came from it all. This goes far enough, even, to explain every person, their geneology, every speck of anything they see, eat, breath, and even think. This predicted path, then, is set out for you long before your creation. However, this does not take away choice. You have the freedom to choose whatever you like. Destiny is simply, in this case, the invariable knowledge of what you will choose. An example: A child sees a piece of candy that he likes. You know that child will take the candy, but you don't force him to do it. Destiny.

Spiritually, it's even easier. The energy influences are everywhere, fit into a great painting, to which you are only the smallest dot, but a crucial dot as is everyone else. Your destiny is, then, the fulfillment of some unknown mission in life, or in fact a nearly infinite supply of missions. From saving some person's life, to making a small child, to that chance meeting in an elevator that subtly caused the other person to say something to her husband which he was able to use to stop his drinking habit. Destiny.

Destiny is not true. It is something which the humans have created so that they might have someone to blame. And since destiny is more accepted as an unknown entity it becomes easier if destiny takes the blame for the mistakes which the humans have commited. So my opinion is that we should take up a stand as humans and start working toward our progress instead of sitting silent and blaming some unknown entity for our hinderance,
Good luck.

Everyone has a "destiny" even if they don't do all the things they want to in life---some people are destined to do greater things than others, some are destined to just be a great parent that raises a wonderful well adjusted child, it doesn't have to be out of this world, sometimes it's the small accomplishments that everday people do that make their "destiny" are you feeling me....

refers to the predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as the irresistible power or agency that determines the future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a natural order to the universe.

Many people believe destiny is a fixed timeline of events that is inevitable and unchangeable.

Others believe that they choose their own destiny by choosing different paths throughout their life.

Destiny or fate is the end result of your own thoughts and actions arriving at fruition over a period of time, for example a person who thinks about and does criminal activities shouldn't be surprised if a prison is his destiny. What you do, good or bad, creates your destiny..good or bad.

Not that I necessarily believe this, but if our lives are deterministic then destiny would be a reality. The determinist view is that what we do and who we are is ultimately controlled by genetics and environment. So, if that is true, then we each have a destiny, even if we are unable to predict that destiny.

Destiny (as in Fatalism) is mistaken -- destroys the presence of limited free-will...

I think it's just a word to explain why things happen. I believe that from the moment you were born, God has your whole life planned. It's just up to us to figure out what that plan is.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.
