First of all, what is Amenglish??? And second of all, how exactly does the National health care service thing work???

Josh;)

P.S.
How much do doctors get paid exactly??? Cause in California, as a doctor, I can make up to 500,000 dollars a year! Now, if there isn't a job that makes at least 100,000 pounds a year in England, that I can work strait out of college, then I'm not interested in slums, cause I would rather just have a summer home on the Isle of Wight or something.

I am a British Citizen....I am proud of it to some extent, but then I am not. I have travelled to many many places I am a traveler and this gives me the opportunity to compare the different people that I meet. Most people will probably not like what I am about to say, but Americans are the nicest people on this earth. I can describe British people as stuck up, think that they are in some way more superiour, they look intelligent, act like they are intelligent, but in fact they are not. They talk over you when you are speaking, they do not understand simple common sense, you find yourself repeating the same thing over and over again and on top of that they try to answer any of your questions using subjects that are no way related to what you are talking about. Britian is a cold place, it is dull and unfortunatly the poeple become like that. People are staunch, it is not normal to show emotion, if you are being attacked by yobs in the street (which is on the increase), no one will stop and help you - the police are starting not to care. We have a health system that basically accomodates anyone from any planet. The UK has a large percentage of new immigrants/european union settlers, the place is becoming crowded, jobs are low because of this - the European Union in fact has no economic benefit to the UK but has more benefit to the other countries which baisically means that UK doors are open to ANYONE from other european countries. I am not saying that this is a bad thing - but if you find yourself taking an exam to get a job at a grocery store, and competing with other Europeans, you will get the drift. The government is lacking major common sense and the society is going down drastically. Also remember that UK is very small compared to North America - North America will always have opportunities in comparison to the UK. I was practially disabled on a flight between NY and LA - I was ill and needed to be in hospital - complete strangers - Americans took care of me, took me to Hospital on arrival, got me a wheelchair and fanned me down with newspapers and magazines on the whole flight, because of the heat. I will say that a British person would never do that - i REPEAT would NEVER do that - they have too much pride, they dont have a sense of community like North Americans do. Americans look out for each other, we British don't. Its, 'Oh the government will take care of it' or 'its someone else's job'. The British are busy being drunk all the time, causing hovak at 3am after watching a stupid football game in the pub. Things that make you brain dumb (like football) are things that British people obsess over - they make people who are stupid and not good role models into celebrities (Jordan, all big brother people) -Victoria Beckham (No talent) I dont like to say this, but the British people are very 'White Trash' - they live their life like that and they ARE like that....

Yes, it is a wonderful place to go on vacation, and even to spend a gap year or two.... but once you get settled and routine sets in, you very quickly realise it's not all that fantastic. In my case, after 8 years there I was more than happy for my (English) hubby to take a job abroad, just to get out of the country for a while. I was tired of the constant moaning, bitching, scapegoating, drunken yobs, and dreadful public transport - not to mention the struggle to pay the mortgage, horrendous council tax (£110 a month for us) and the ridiculously long waits for medical treatment . And then there are all those dreadful youths hanging around everywhere, drinking, smoking pot and hassling people, spoiling what would be great neighbourhoods otherwise. And white van drivers are a nightmare (although as a bloke, you should be safe from this one). So, think long and hard before you decide to move there for good. And if you are actually thinking of living in a good part of London, you better make sure you have A LOT of money available, because the cost of living is very, very high.
I must add that I have met some great people in the UK, had some wonderful times and, most importantly, have met my gorgeous husband there. Plus, some parts of the country are amazing. I love the Isle of Wight, Devon and the Lake District. And I'm sure once you find the right place you can be perfectly happy there. Just don't think it's going to be all 'Mary Poppins' - life in the UK has it's up and downs just like everywhere else.

The UK was once a great place to live, work and bring up a family. Today it is so different. We have so much crime and a justice system that will not deal sensibly with it. We have an education system that means anyone can get a pass as the political correct brigade will not see anyone fail. Children cannot be disciplined so run riot. Teachers are not allowed to control rude and troublesome kids. The police cannot arrest anyone in case they get sued. We have thousands of immigrant workers from eastern Europe taking the jobs. The weather stinks most of the time, the TV is crap. You cant afford to buy a house if your young. You wont find a policeman, ambulance or doctor after 10 pm. So you want to move here. That's up to you but my advice stay in the USA. I love the UK but the grass is not always greener on the other side of the pond. Hey I would not live in USA.

We're totally up ourselves, we think we still rule the world, really, we do... And it's funny and quaint and really stupid. It's like Monty Python. I'm bored of it, though. I want to go somewhere passionate like southern Europe or somewhere as crazy as me like the United States. Do you think I could become a US citizen? Do you think they would let me in? I like the fact that they had a revolution and no longer have a monarchy. And I would just have such fun teasing people. I'm actually being serious in this response, Beckham Fan. We really do think we rule still, we have this attitude.

Britain is quite poor in many areas and grubby and much drudgery. And then there's people with money in London and the Home Counties. You'll have visited those places, I suspect. But the poverty in other areas is just a joke, it's not real poverty. There are problems, a lot of crime and despair and bad families and bad relationships and bad education and people only want to become celebrities, masses more unemployment than the figures tell you (it doesn't bother me). The whole nation is becoming addicted to alcohol while hastily we all try to quit smoking.

People snort cocaine a lot. Not just the posh, the poor too get a bit. We have these soap operas and they teach us about life. Lots of people here in the UK are really reallly down to earth and friendly and really nice, actually. Most people. You'll like it here, I'm sure of it. Yeah, come along, mate. You really should come visit me.

It's a good time to go to the south of England. Raves are being allowed again there. It's a very beautiful country. I can't stand going back down South, they're so boring. They just work and get stressed, they're nice but not very liberated. A lot of the North is full of w**kers, I have to say. Liverpool's nice, Manchester, Sheffield okay and Hull's beautiful. Hull is really just a little bit special.

A lot of places in the Midlands and down South actually have some serious problems with roughness and despair. Cornwall is supposedly (I've not been) really chilled and like a hippy holiday paradise.

Oh my, I've forgot Scotland, Wales, Ireland. Scotland and Wales are like the North, poor but the quality/friendliness of people and places vary there. More mountains and lush scenery. Northern Ireland? USA and London has relaxed things a bit for them what with this war on terror business.

I hope things will change, it might be up to me so it's time I got some sleep, had nice dreams. London makes the decisions.

People die in poverty and ill health around the world in large numbers. People get sent to prison which aims not at reforming them but degrading them into lesser human beings who will go on to commit worse atrocities. Religion is not the problem people say it is, not here anyway. Learn to think for yourself and understand that everything contains prejudice. Things grow towards the light and towards others, I think. MDMA is cool, it's very much maligned and misunderstood. There is no them, only us. I welcome you to my homely nation state x

The UK is no utopia. I've lived near America for many years. The UK is more politically correct than the USA, not as wealthy but with abit better income distribution. It also has a much better social welfare and public health system. The weather is pretty bad - lots of rain. Public transport is not good. Schools paid for by taxes vary enormously in quality. Most private schools are good and many people aspire to send their children to them. It is difficult to get a publicly funded (ie free dentist) now. There is racial discrimination and "reverse" racial discrimination, but not as blatant as in the USA. I like it here, but I might also like it in the USA if I was in the right place.

Do you currently live in the UK? I have been there many times, and also love it. I don't think I would want to immigrate there though. Mostly because I just love my own country too much. I ask if you currently live there because there are many mitigating factors to living in another country. Taxes for one is very different. Take for instance, I live in Germany (most of the time) and for someone there to work they take approximately 55% in taxes. They only pay once a month, and you must profide a photo of yourself with your resume. So always keep in mind those little things that are very very different then our own country. If that is all said and done and you still want to immigrate to the UK, then go for it! I wish you luck.

Amenglish is the american version of english, so if you say pants to an english person they will think you are talking about underwear, they call them trousers. Similarly if you saty suspenders, they are what bbritish women use to hold up stockings, which would be hose to you, to us a hose is something you use to water the garden or clean the car.
You would NOT get a job earning £100000 a year straight out of college, really depends what sort of job you are looking at.

England is a good place to live for the majority as it is quite rich and has a lot of support systems in place. It is also very beautiful. Unfortunately it is run by a right load of useless sods.

And how many countries have you lived in to come to that conclusion? I have lived in several and whilst I admit the UK has issues, as does every outher country on the planet, it is considerably better than most to live in despite the weather.
