Because the Godhead is really a family. . .and to be Father. . .and Mother. . .you have to have children.

Few people seem to know this. . .and something the Church would prefer not having to explain in any meaningful detail. . .the concept of the "trinity" came from a branch of Egyptian religion. . .a worship of repetition. . .where the meditation and concentration is on the holy family of Osiris-Isis-Horus. Over time, this became God the Creator (Father), God the Sustainer (Mother - the Comforter), and God the Redeemer (Son - Christ. . .or. . .the person Jesus in the divine office of Christ. . .so Jesus the Christ). . .and through mankind's redemption. . .becoming the "sons and daughters of G-d" so as to be part of this family and trinity.

Philosophy and logic may justify your question from the standpoint that "Love" cannot exist without being "loved". . .but the truth of the matter is the concept of G-d and his people is in the context of a family relationship. . .for, the lower mirrors the nature of the higher. . .and as mankind throughout the ages has tended to its young and old through the family unit (irrespective of how functional or disfunctional the unit may be!). . .this is the belief and understanding of how G-d brought us into being in the first place!

best guess is that elements created over billions of years in the furnaces of stars fell to earth over eons, as comets and meteors crashed into the planet. these elements floated in water for a very long time, often getting struck by lightening. over time, this joined elements, and life began to evolve.
