There are many things that can go wrong and ruin a camping trip. Among these:
- Mosquitoes
- Raccoons/other animals getting into your food
- Oppressive heat
- Rain (although it can be a nice break)
- Car trouble getting in/out
- Food spoilage
- Wasp/Bee stings
- Tent issues (like leaking from water)
- Injury to a person in the group

Most of all, a bad attitude can ruin it though. In everything I listed, if you have a positive, upbeat attitude, you can still have a good time. I think I've experienced everything in that list during one camp out or another.

Food, Games, Bug Spray, Firewood (if Available) Pillows, sleeping bag, air mattress, tent (if you are roughin it) radio w/ cd player (you never know if yu will have good reception, plastic table cloth it doubles as a table cloth but is also helpful if it rains you can use it to sit on or cover the firewood, matches or a torch, charcoal and bbque pit to bbque with. First Aid kit and make sure you have super glue. It works well in case of bad cuts, a friend busted her head open and we where not near a hospital so we super glued it and when she did get to the hospital they left it alone because it was clean and put back together correctley. I now keep a thing of glue in all first aid kits! We go camping at least 20 times a year. Granted we have a camper but we have not always had one. Hope this helps

check the weather, you don't want rainy day unless you are inside the cabin free from mud. remember its not fun while those waters are surrounding your tent. you need boots and where would you go? just cooped up inside the tent and listen to the rain drops?

prepare yourself for all the things you might need before you leave your place, write it down and check it so you won't forget anything, medication, first aid, water, canned goods, flashlight, tools, blanket or sleeping bag, comfortable clothing, repellent, radio, your cell phone battery and charger and among other things. cause if you forget those necessity you might end up cutting your trip early.

get all the necessary information or details of the place, get familiarize with the area, get map to be aware of your camp, need compass and some marker and flashlight, just in case you encounter being lost. if you have children, train them well and teach them about who to ask for help, whats their assignment. but always boost their confidence so they won't get scared just in case something unexpected happen. always think ahead and what they should do.
