is the vanilla part a must for the batter, or is that for the icing. and i dont have cinnamon or nutmeg either, are they also a must or is the cinnomon and nutmeg optional, sorry you guys, i just dont want to go out and buy all this stuff, and have it not really be a must you know what i mean, it is 12:02 a.m. over here, so not really trying to go to the store right now , and i kinda wanted to make them to night, or i should say early this morning. thanks you guys :) :)

There should be vanilla in BOTH the mix and the icing.

The cinnamon and nutmeg are for flavoring. It won't taste as flavorful without them, but I don't think it'll be completely bland. As far as I know, the vanilla is for the batter.... but heck, try it without it! :) Good luck.

you put the vanilla in the mix you put powder sugar on for the "icing" which isnt really icing
