1) There are those people who are harder to love than others, and it can be hard to smile and be polite while listening to their complaints. 2) I'm running out of time. 3) My food is melting. 4) I'm behind schedule to get to the next thing on my list. 5) I'm having a rough day and just can't deal with talking to another person. 6) One lady I know comes up and grabs me and gives me a hug without warning, and I just may not be up to hearing all about her life for the next 30 minutes.

Okay one reason I would avoid an aquaintance at a grocery store would be if I'm not dolled-up, you know, there are mornings when nothing makes sense and still you have to go out! Uhmm, another one would be that maybe I'm not in the mood for talking..basically I would just avoid someone if I'm having a bad day...wouldn't want to spoil anybody's day with my moodiness, so I would avoid them completely.

I would a avoid an acquaintance at the grocery store if I'm not feeling sociable enough to speak to anyone or if I think I'm having a bad hair day. Things like that would make me avoid someone or if I have something to hide.

I would avoid an acquaintace at a grocery store if they did something to me that I didn't like and didn't want to talk about it.
Or if I owed them money! LOL :D

I try to say hi, but sometimes I just don't feel like talking and I am in a hurry. Or I look like crap - that always seems to be the time you run into people. Then I am embarrassed.

Because they talk too much and you don't want to be held up for 20 minutes, standing there while the ice cream in your buggy is melting.
Because you think that you are better than them, and don't want to be associated with them in public.

Too gossipy, too long-winded, or nosey. These are reason enough for me to avoid someone in general.

If I'm in sweats and my hair's a mess. Or if they're not particulary nice, then I would avoid them also.
