I'm looking for something that is organized like a family tree. For example some denominations broke away from Lutheran, then that one split into 2 more, etc.

By the way, in case someone doesn't know what I mean by Protestant, I mean non-Catholic and non-Orthodox Christian.

Here is the best I've found so far that shows, in detailed order by year, the highlights of Church history from the very beginning up to 1978:

I am a Catholic and I can tell you that we believe also, that only grace can save us (responding to the answer given by James). It is incorrect to suggest otherwise.

By the way, thank you for the link. I bookmarked it and loved seeing it. Really lays out our Christian history from the beginning till now. Nice job.

Martin Luther started the Protestant Reformation when he nailed the 95 theses on the door of the church. Protestants believe what Jesus and his disciples taught from the very beginning which is recorded in Scripture. The Roman Catholics have strayed away from the teachings of Scripture and Martin Luther was trying to get the church back in line with what Scripture teaches, such as Salvation by grace alone. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace alone through a repentant faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior resulting in the fruit of the Spirit. (Eph. 2:8-10). By the way, orthodox does not necessarily refer to the greek orthodox. Orthodox simply means "right belief". www.equip.org

Interesting link.
I'll have to check back and see if others know of any good sites. I have no idea of where to find such a site, myself. (???)
