Why do people with bad credit or any credit think they need a scured credit card. Whats the point of paying over money to have a card which is secured when you could just as well use a debit card?

None of the above. No credit card is a good one. The banks that issue credit cards are out to ruin your credit, not improve it as they claim. Ask the millions of bankrupt people that have used credit cards.
A prepaid credit card is the only way to go. A $9.95 fee to activate, $4.95 to reload is the only fee you pay. No late fees, no hidden charges, no small print to decipher. Many stores now carry them.
