MY 9 WEEK OLD PUGGLE JUST GOT KENNEL COUGH. I TOOK HIM TO THE VET AND THEY GAVE ME COUGH MED. AND ANTIBIOTICS FOR HIM. (ANTIBIOTICS ONCE A DAY AND COUGH MED. 2-3 TIMES A DAY) HE'S GETTING A LITTLE BETTER... HOW LONG WILL IT LAST AND HOW LONG DOES DOGS USUALLY HAVE IT FOR. I ALSO GAVE HIM A TEASPOON OF HONEY TO EASE THE COUGHING.. IS THAT A GOOD IDEA?

our dog had this last week. keep your pup away from other puppies and keep with the anti-biotic 10 days should do it. you can give 1 tsp. of robitussin too. our vet prescribed that and ascriptin and antibiotics. good luck.

We have a beagle that just went through the same thing. It went away within a day and a half of taking the antibiotics. Also, to cure her cough, we gave her a tiny scoop of Vaseline (we used to do this for my childhood cat when getting hairballs) and it stops the coughing right away. She sometimes coughs for 10 minutes solid then once we give it to her instantly over. Its not harmful to eat, just not great tasting I guess, but my dog also drinks from puddles, so not too discriminating anyway.

well ihad a 8week old chihuahua that had the same thing it will only last a few days make sure hes always warm and gets the medication when required make sure after the kennel cough he gets his shots promtly my chihuahua died of parvo-virus he didnt get his shots asap

Kennel cough usually last about 1-2weeks.
I'm not sure about the honey...hmmmmmmmmm???

typically 2-3 days before it goes away with medicine
i got all three of my dogs at the shelter, and that happened to them
