No, you do not have to be married. Went through that. I'm from Texas, too.

NO. You can just sign the birth certificate and the child will have you last name. But just be sure you know what all is included in signing it! I would get a DNA test first! If you sign the birth certificate and then down the road you find out the child really isn't yours, you are still legally and financially responcible!

No, you don't have to be married. Just make sure when the person from vital statistics comes around with the birth certificate that all the information on it is correct and fill out the child's name with your last name. That should be all you have to do.

You sure can,but it is up to the mother of the child to let the hospital know. My first child, we were not married and I gave our son the fathers last name. Like i said , the hospital leaves it up to the mother of the child what name she is giving.

I don't know about Texas. In Ohio you don't have to be married to give the baby the father's last name. Call the hospital where the baby is being born or ask the O.B.G.Y.N. chances are one of them can tell you.

yes, you are allowed to be listed on the birth certificate.....if she wants you to be. Dont forget to have your ID with you....my ex had to go home and get his ID before they would let him sign since we were not married...lol Good luck with baby!

No. But the mother has to state what you are the father. If there is any question, she can, as well, have your name taken off. All states are different though, so call your local hospital... they should be able to direct you to help. Congrats on the baby!
