The most common problem with the use of John 1:1 as a reference for determining that Jesus was GOD is that they over look the two entirely different words used to for the word "god"
For the word which means the Almighty GOD the word Greek word "Beov" is used.
For the word which is associated with the word, The Word, the Greek word is "Beoc"
When looking at the Greek language the modifiers before and after these two words create a different meaning to the words which indicates that the god-Beoc is not the same as the god-Beov. Further, the relationship of the Greek modifiers indicates that the two, god-Beov and god-Beoc, are two entirely separate beings fully separate and apart from one another.
Looking at other texts in Hebrew form for the Beov is represented by the Tetragrammaton, and when translated into English are YHWH or JHVH.
The article below gives a very good explanation of GOD's Name and the differentiation and that of any other god.
Enjoy the reading of the article.

This is a question lots of people can't understand. There are three persons of the Godhead. The Father,The Son,and The Holy Spirit. They are all the same age. They had no beginning. They have always been. Jesus is that person of the Godhead who came down from his lofty seat on high.to live a life of poverty, and show us the way we should live. He is God,and he paid the price for us by dying on the cross for us. Only a god can do this.We speak of these three in these names so that we know which one we are referring to. God the father was in heaven when Jesus died, and called out to him. The Holy Spirit can be in all places at the same time telling us right from wrong. The trinity as they are called, are all of the same mind in thought. All are Holy! All are God. But,Jesus was the creator of all the things on earth. He was there before the foundations of the earth was laid.

He absolutely is. In the book of Isaiah, the Lords says, "with my own arm I will bring salvation"...then in St. John 1:1 it says...In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the Word was God, then the word became flesh..." Please don't let anyone water down scripture for you. Jesus and God are one in the same. Jesus is a wonder, partly because he was %100 human and %100 God. The bible also says that our ways and thoughts are totally different from God's, so I'm confused when people say they believe in Jesus, but don't believe he is God. Then they try to use human rationale to explain how it is not possible. The bible says, "with God all things are possible". I hope you get revelation before someone or something plucks the seed out of you. God Bless

I don't believe so. I personally that Jesus is the son of God--he is a child of God just like everyone else!
I also believe that Jesus in a way was a sorcerer--look at all of those miracles he did! He helped a blind man to see by the simple acts of wiping spit upon his eyes, and he rose a man from his own grave. What about that girl that died from an illness--he brought her to life! I believe that we all have the same capabilities as Jesus did, but we haven't figured out how to use those abilities yet. Jesus did. He had an understanding of God no one else did. He tried to teach us, but we were too ignorant to listen. We didn't start listening until after he died. He was also accused of being a devil worshipper and heretic, too. I know perfectly well how he felt, because I get accused of the same thing! Which I am not a devil worshipper. As long as I know and God knows what is in my heart, and what I believe in, nothing else should matter.

The res the three parts of God called the trinity. God The Father, God the Son, And the holy spirit. But the son was God in the flesh. That in John 1. In Daniel 3 Which I really love to read it talks about four people in the fiery fire instead of shadrak, mechack, and abindego. The fourth person in the fiery furnace they said to be the son of God.

It's all over the place. Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God,
2 Samuel 22:47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
1 Chronicles 16:23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you,
Psalms 3:8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people.
Psalms 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalms 18:46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
Psalms 20:5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
Psalms 21:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.>> The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
Psalms 24:5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
Psalms 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalms 35:9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
Psalms 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
It goes on and on.
What a truly great Lord that brings some to understanding. Jesus is God. Jesus is the Lord of Salvation. Jesus is the only way into heaven.
Psalms 96:2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
