Males are raped. Should a male rape victim confess that he is gay knowing that he will be discharged from service? I mean what is the greater wrong? Sjould one have to suffer from being raped or use his or her right and come out?

I don't see what his sexuality has to do with being raped.....the rapist would be the one under persecution and out himself as gay rather than the victim.

Thats a tough one. In response to the last answer though, sexuality has a lot to do with this. First, if he comes out the military will discharge him. Secondly, it could be argued that he wasnt actually raped but had consentual sex with his attacker. This is very complicated, all I can say is do what you think is best for you or your friend or whatever.

You don't have to come out, you can state that you were raped, and your sexual orientation will never come into play. Rape is a nonconsentual sexual act, it dosn't matter if it was done by the sex you prefer or not, that would not effect the out come if it was a woman who was a lesbian and was raped by a man. So why should this be any different?

Do you mean he was soddomized?
Not to sound evangelical, just trying to define the assault.
I don't see how his preference would matter here unless the accused brings it up.
A heterosexual male could just as easily have been the one to have been soddomized. Does he need to state his orientaion? No. Not just because of the event.
I say, if it's isn't brought up by the accused, then it's not an issue.
If the accused make it so, ...
Cousel would have the right advice on this matter.

I don't see why they would ask. The victim's orientation is irrelevant in a rape case.

The victim's proclivities are irrelevant. Rape is rape.

Being raped has nothing to do with him being gay. Why would he have to say anything about that?
Rape is wrong.....whoever it happens to!!!

I would think he'd need to report if he's gay in case there's a chance he has AIDS.
