It depends, because in times of peace we don't need that many but in full-scale engagements we need a lot more. I think around 2 million people are all that we need in the armed forces to be honest. We have the military technology to scale things down and have a smaller army, but we seem to be perpetually in need of people to fight. This would give us enough people to fight and take care of the more tactical/logistics end of things.

I say we should have at least a million in every military branch there is. The way things are looking and escalating in the last couple years around the world, we are not going to be able sustain major wars with the amount of troops that we have.
I know that with the technological advantage we have militarily, we don't need as many troops on the ground but the fact is, nothing beats the amount of power you can have with sheer manpower.

relatively, Timothy is ineffective incorrect. particular, you've gotten your individual opinion, yet it extremely is the reason you will possibly be arrested for inciting riots and inflammatory speech. basically considering the fact which you have an opinion does no longer propose human beings might desire to hearken to on your dumb a$$ speaking it. Insulting what's important to guard our u . s . a ., or countries pastimes and confirm nationwide protection isn't "opinion" its sheer stupidity. u . s . a . of america has been dumbed down for generations by capacity of politicians and a compliant media. How else do you think of government can get by capacity of with manipulating loose commerce, the markets, the financial wellbeing of our u . s . a . in desire of assisting different international places, violating our own shape as they permit illegals to squat in our u . s . a ., and all the numerous many examples of government no longer precisely doing the will of the vast majority of yankee's whom have not forgotten that government might desire to be constrained and not manipulating our lives. If every person whines approximately what our troops are doing everywhere, then you definately might desire to take a lesson from the losers whom protested the Vietnam conflict. The troops often signed up for honor and to do provider for God and u . s . a ........yet its our government that sent them there, Congress had to approve and a president had to agree. so as that they moron's like Code crimson might desire to attack the politicians and the previous techniques of doing corporation extremely than take it out on an honorable bunch whom have placed themselves selflessly in harms way for the coolest of the rustic. every person no longer agreeing with that elementary theory is a coward whom in all likelihood has no thought what honor is and achieved no longer something for the coolest of the rustic, yet purely for themselves. Sorry that the a techniques left wing jacka$$'s have not been taught nationwide delight and selfless committment to a minimum of one's fellow many. particular they talk a good sport whilst it includes stealing our funds by taxes handy out to no longer purely the adverse however the slackers of society and underserving besides. to no longer point out those whom "sport" the gadget (like illegals), yet they are lacking coaching and biased questioning varieties do no longer replace the very incontrovertible fact that they are incorrect.

Every abled bodied person. If we don't fight for our freedom then who is? It is a good experience and moulds you into a person of values and pride. Most of the time it will help you to make a career choice when you get out or you may choose to stay in and make the military your career.
