Try seeing a periodontist, a doctor who specialises in gums. A periodontist can clean the infected gum area and offer you methods to replace the gum you have lost.
Until then, remove the piercing, floss ALL of your teeth at least once a day (make sure the floss reaches under the gum line where most of the harmful bacteria live. This will cause bleeding initially, but as the gums heals this bleeding will go away. Healthy gums do not bleed from flossing). You should also brush twice a day, paying special attention to the gum line with a gentle circular motion (do not scrub back and forth or push hard on recessed areas as this can exacerbate the problem). Also a mouthwash with chlorhexidine can help to kill the real nasties in your mouth, ask a pharmacist for the mouthwash.
But none of this is a long term solution if you don't see a dentist or periodontist, who can fix the source of the problem not just the symptoms.
As for the cost, it depends on the treatment. A clean under the gums is relatively cheap, while gum grafting is quite expensive.

I work for a dentist and maybe can offer you some advice. If they are really pussing, you may have an abscess, and should see a dentist asap, you may need an antibiotic. If you dont have dental insurance, your regular physician should call you in a prescription.
You can try rinsing with warm salt water a few times a day, this usually helps. Listerine or any antiseptic mouthwash would be helpful too. You should also be flossing at least once a day, as this greatly improves the health of your gum tissue. Your gums will probably bleed for a few days, if you're not used to flossing, but it will stop.
Good luck

First of all, stop wearing the piercing. Second of all, tell everyone you know what happened to you, as this is very, very common. Third of all, ask your dentist about seeing a periodontist. You may still be able to save those teeth (Yes, I am serious - you might lose them otherwise.) by a "grafting" procedure where some gum is either swung over from the adjacent teeth or "borrowed" from a host site elsewhere in your mouth (generally the palate) to cover the defect. I have not seen you, so I don't know if this is still possible, but it is the likely remedy. I would expect this to cost from $500 to maybe $800, depending on how involved it is.

If it's just your gums then you can get a root planing and deep scaling which means they would numb you up and clean aggressively in those areas. If your teeth are loose you could have bone loss as well and may lose your teeth. Or you could have something as simple as a gum infection. In any case don't waste any time getting that looked at and good luck.

Go see the dentist immediately...puss means you have an infection and you don't want that getting in your blood stream.
When you see the dentist, he/she will most likely recommend surgery. The surgery would entail grafting new "gum tissue" and covering the portions of your teeth/nerves that are exposed.
Entire mouth = $5,000

You probably just have an infection and can be cleared up with an antibiotic. The recession can't really be fixed but the sensitivity with settle down.

1. Take the stud out.
2. See a dentist. You will probably get xrays and be treated with antibiotics. If the bone is infected you are in trouble.
